Editor's note: LetsRun.com Jonathan Gault spoke with a source close to Asics today and they denied that they're getting out of sponsoring athletes and that, as of today, they will have at least eight athletes under contract for 2019 -- Diego Estrada, Candace Hill, Deena Kastor, Jarrion Lawson, and a few other signings to be announced in the near future. Granted they don't sponsor as many athletes as some of the other brands, but the fact that they're going to be announcing new sponsorships shows that they're not going to be getting out of the sponsorship game.

Mac Fleet has just been riding out his contract till it ends this year. I heard he's retiring after his contract expires. Also, how does Pat Casey get dropped?

Can people site their sources for some of these? I haven't heard of any athletes leaving NAZ or of any women leaving Brooks Beasts (thought that would explain some instagram stuff).

When going through the top 10 finishers at CIM this year about 70% do not have a contract that is anymore than gear. Will any of them land a gig?

Mac Fleet posts the same caption every season for the past 5 years.

None of the BTC/OTC people you cited make enough to get dropped.

If nothing else, they're training partners. OTC is relatively non-existent and needs some bodies to say they're a group.

OTC only signed one guy (NAU grad) and Bowerman picked up only Stanford grad male (several ladies).

Could see Marielle Hall reduced?

I am sure Mac Fleet is making peanuts if any more than gear, so he wont be dropped. Same with Casey.

Zap dead, NYNJ drastically reduced, Furman Elite dismantled, Brooks Beasts ladies finished except for one new signee Buchalski.

Fox/Reebok group signing anyone they can along with Santos BAA.

Casey has been gone from Eugene for over a year with Under Armour and Hass. You need a serious update, man.

What is source on NjNY reductions? That is the one new group starting to make a name. No one had heard of them and now something.

I follow the sport very closely and can't stand your condescension. First of all, it would be helpful to use full names for obscure pro runners that were great in college but aren't as established as pros. Outside of letsrun, it is very hard to keep track of what is going on with all these pro track teams. "EVERYONE WHO FOLLOWS THE SPORT" isn't that many people. Most runners do not follow the sport. So lose the condescension. You're obviously an "insider" using terms like "Flag" and citing 5 different unnamed sources.

Nonetheless, thanks for the insight and I'm genuinely interested in knowing what is going on with these teams and following the sport but don't make people feel less cool because they don't know all Olympic Trials qualifiers in "Flag" on a first name basis.
