Great race, thanks for posting, beautiful tactics by all concerned. I could write several paragraphs about it but wouldn't want to ruin it.
And way back, Arne Gabius gets the German NR.
2012 is vintage?! F*ck. Life is flying by =(
Why does watching Farah lose bring me such joy?
Wow! I remember when the marathon was for guys too slow for the 10,000.

Exactly - how distance running has changed!
Where is Tariku Bekele? What's his status?

Because there is something that gives you feelings of inadequacy in your life so you get joy out of other's "failing".
I feel sorry for you. If I were a praying man, I'd pray for you.
Merry Christmas.

I'm not happy he lost, just happy he got beat, and wish more runners would have beaten him.
The reason is because he's such a selfish self centered person, who doesn't care about anyone else but himself.
Awesome video, I probably watch it once a month. Kipchoge's fast twitch plus his aerobic capacity = game over. On a side note, the more you watch this video, the more you'll appreciate just how talented the Bekele bloodlines are. With 800 or so to go, Bekele is running 60 second quarters and his cadence is much slower than Kipchoge's and Farah's. He's about shot, but maintains his form and looks incredibly efficient nonetheless.

Ringading butthurt Farah fan alarm!
I haven't heard much about Tariku in a long time but it is good that he is still getting better at the thon. 2:09 is a good time in Seoul. I literally think he has the potential to get down to 2:05 in Berlin or London. It would be cool to see him run a good race in the same race as Bekele getting the WR. 2 brothers. 2 heros.

About your times? True.
Wow. Great post.
Kipchoge is the picture of calm, barely changing facial expressions until his typical "smile"/grimace in the last 200.
I love this from the commentators: "Bekele knows he doesn't have the footspeed of Farah and Kipchoge." Amazing to think that the current marathon WR holder was the best kicker in a world-beating two-mile not long ago.
Great victory for Kipchoge!
For me, Eliud Kipchoge really is very close to both Gebrselassie and K. Bekele in an all-time distance running ranking. And for me all three of them are ahead of Mo Farah, who has won 12 globle outdoor medals in a row over 5000m and 10000m (including 10 golds in a row) and has almost all European records from 1500m to the Marathon (and so obviously is one of the all-time greats himself).
None of the greats of the past really has done something similar to one of those four. Really astonishung to me. The range from 1500m to the Marathon from all four also is unique (OK, maybe Rod Dixon with his 1500m/Marathon times, but even he has done relatively little in between).
Also, how often have we seen top running-careers in the past stretching over 15 or even more than 20 years!!!!
