Invalid straw man, we do. But the wall was a catchy campaign slogan, then a potential boon for contactors and a dog whistle to racists. It was never a sensible proposal to improve border security or the efficiency of our immigration system.
I would say most Democrats do want border security. It is the obsession/fixation with "the wall" that rubs them the wrong way.
It should rub fiscal conservatives the wrong way too, as "the wall" is not the most effective use of tax payer funds.
Border security, as a generic Democrat sees it, probably includes decreasing pressure on the border by having an effective guest worker program, a wall in some places, monitoring in some places, little to nothing in places where a river and cliffs are present.
A wall is also an overly simplistic option when there are private property issues and environmental issues in a given area, and is also likely the most expensive choice per mile.
No = more potential votes coming in, because you know, dems love the poor, downtrodden , womens, and all minorities.
This is just an attempt to embarrass the President. He said he would make Mexico pay for the wall and he will. He's just been so busy and he's done more than any other President.
PS I take it back if you're a Mexican and Trump made you set up this GoFundMe and Mexicans are donating.

They want actual border security, not megalomaniac symbol politics.

Mexico is paying for the wall. Only fake news outlets dispute this. GoFundMe for Border Wall is a scam.
Did any sane Republican want a wall before Trump? The biggest issue used to be (still is?) what to do with illegal immigrants that are already here? They provide cheap labor that certain businesses would rather keep. They stay here and spend money here thus positively effecting the economy.
A better use of the money would be an expanded guest worker program, expanded security program (drones, agents, etc), expanded processing facilities and quicker processing system for workers, asylum seekers, etc.
But it’s easier to scream ‘build the wall” or “keep em out” or “they’ll take our jobs”....ignorance personified.
With the above programs you need marketing and direction to push the interested immigrants to those locations and programs. That being you’ll need more access points and safer access points and guides on the other side....hey look I just made another job.
You’re not stopping immigration, legal or otherwise, so you better get ahead of it and act like a damn human being.
Alan
Liberals also know that not having a wall would allow Trump to leave. Win win.

So you all are really just not caring that Donald Trump couldn't keep his largest campaign goal of making Mexico pay for it huh.
Sitting there whining doesn’t get you what you want.
Myself nor any of my conservative friends that have discussed this issue are against legal immigration. We are against illegal immigration. The illegals already here should stay, but be put on a pathway to citizenship.

They don’t want border enforcement. It’s that simple.
No republicans are calling for government to stop immigration. But it does need to be controlled (legal vs illegal)... do you know what the medical profession calls uncontrolled growth? CANCER. The country could not survive without limits and control over immigration into the country. So why do you think that legal immigration numbers be increased? Should it be doubled or tripled? How long is that sustainable? Would this have any affect on current citizens?
We don't need 'quicker processing systems'... we need to protect the values of this country and maintain control of immigration. Not only to control the rate of growth, but to maintain the ideals that are coming into this country. Just opening up all the borders would, I assume, increase the number of immigrants who really don't want to contribute to the USA, but just want to instill their own ideas from their own failed countries while taking advantage of the system currently in place. I know that we're not stopping immigration, but for you to say that as 'damn human beings' we just need to stop with this immigration nonsense and just open it all up is just flat out asinine.
Personally, I would rather see the money go toward more of a proverbial wall which would stop benefits for illegal immigrants and harsher punishments/better enforcement of laws preventing the hiring of illegal immigrants (and yes this would include scrapping citizenship by birth alone despite parent's being illegal immigrants). A physical wall can be overcome, but if you wipe out the benefits that illegal immigrants envision then maybe they will be less inclined to come over illegal and try to make their own countries better.

Hey... you need to read/listen to some stuff from Thomas Sowell...
BREAKING NEWS!!!:
I just started a $20 GoFundMe for a ladder.
That wall that East Germany built worked well (for West Germany).
Jesus...people who donate to this fund actually have a right to vote and be involved with the future direction of the worlds most powerful country. Democracy rules.
Most Americans including both sides of the political spectrum want sane immigration policy and enforcement which may include making the immigration policy tougher.
What Trump wants is very simple and has always been the case for any project of his. He wants something built to put his name on. The Donald J. Trump Border Wall is all his blathering about the wall is about.
$ 1 Million is probably not even good for 1 inch of wall.
