I run xc and (primarily) mid distance events at the D1 level. I have been plagued by chronic Achilles tendinitis for years and while I have been able to run through it for the most part, it is always a constant thought in the back of my head. I recently learned about bone spurs and discovered that I have fairly noticeable ones growing on the heel by the insertion of my achilles. I assume that these may be one of the causes of my tendinitis. Does anyone have any experience with Achilles bone spurs? I know that technically they will not go away on their own and surgery eventually would be the only option, but how long can you run through them before they completely shut you down? Surgery is not really an option at the moment as I am both broke and still have multiple years of ncaa eligibility and don’t want to waste them recovering from surgery. Does anyone have any advice and/or experience on this issue?
