How does the author challenge and deconstruct the idea of honor? Struggling with this. Can anyone please help? Anything is appreciated

the story starts at the wedding of Angela. on arriving home after the wedding her husband learns that she is not a virgin, so he drags her back to her mothers in disgrace because she has dishonoured him.
her brothers force her to tell them the name of the man responsible, and then, it is a matter of honour for them to kill him.
they tell various people of their intentions and these people tell still others but although half the town seems to know that the brothers intend to kill Santiago, no one actually tells Santiago.
a policeman confiscates their knives.
they get new knives.
they kill Santiago.
the point is that many people knew it was going to happen, but no one did anything to stop it. the reader is asked to explore ideas surrounding the honour of the bride in remaining chaste for her wedding, the honour of the groom who was cheated at the altar, the duty the brothers have to exact revenge for their family being dishonoured, the honour of individual villagers who should have done something to prevent the murder, and the honour of the village as a whole which failed to act because many persons thought someone else must have told Santiago he was in danger.
cheers.
Why not just read the book and complete your own homework?
I did read it. That’s why I asked - because I did not initially understand.
