Ben St. Lawrence has the Australian Record of 27:24.95, Stewart McSweyan who has run 13:05 for 5000 and 7:34 for 3000 this year, and Jack Raynor who recently ran 1:01.01 are 2 runners in the race who will try to better that time tonight.
27:40.00 is the standard for Doha 2019 World Championships.
In the Womens race Niiya of Japan ran 31:32 ahead of Masters star S. Diver who just missed the Doha Standard of 31.50.00 by running 31.50.98.
Ryan Gregson is in the race, bringing his 3:31.06 for 1500 speed to the 10000
Slow race, not even a WCQS. Gregson DNF, pacer or couldn’t handle 10k.
Only 13 people (including 5 Kenyans) have gone sub 27:40 this year. It could end up being a very small field.

Gregson was a pacer. Apparently it was kind of windy according to McSweyn. Here are the results.

Solid run for McSweyn. Wore 4%’s. Wonder if they had spikes in them.
Why didn’t Tiernan run? Any update on him?
Shame the MTC guys had to have pacers in the race (which was a national championship race) to get the job done. Even more embarrassing was in the women's race where the rabbits weren't even helping the Japanese athlete leading the race.
Nice run, Mcsweyn, but wearing road shoes?

Agreed, this is garbage behaviour and atrociously rude! The puppet master controls AA.

4:28 PACE FOR 6.2 miles.
that's pretty fast for December

The most intriguing aspect of this race was the performance of Jordan Gusman who recently relocated to the US to train with TinManElite. He is an extremely talented athlete but his 29:32 would have been disappointing. Hopefully he will be back on the right track in the mile next week in NSW.

Allergic to national championships, will go well in the who cares mile.
Tasmanian, interesting fun fact.
Gusman's run was an anomaly. He went out too hard and blew-up. He's likely in mid-28 mins shape but went out in mid-27 min pace.
Any word on why Tiernan didn't race? Is he injured? Haven't heard much from him over the last year since McSweyn beat him at last year's Zatopek.

Some truth to that, but it's not really an anomaly if the same runner continually fails in all big races. It was ludicrous to see Gusman, Summers and Bruce running that hard from the start, they should have formed their own pack early. Bruce looks likely to rattle some cages this summer.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
