I have had 3 stress fractures within 2 years. My orthopedic had me get some blood work done. Everything was fine with my results, and he did not think I need a bone density test. On the other hand, my coach thinks it's odd that I have had so many stress fractures even with the lower mileage/less intense training program he has me do. He thinks it's a MUST that I get a bone density test before I fully return to running. My plan is to ask my orthopedic for a referral next week so I can get the test. Is it odd that my doctor does not think I need one but my coach does? Any suggestions/opinions would be well appreciated.
