Last week, my girlfriend and I were talking about my training (I run XC in college), when she asked if I wanted to go on a run with her sometime to get her into shape. She had recently made the goal to lose a bunch of weight and run a marathon next year.
I told her that sure, I would go on a run with her, thinking she would want to do 3 or 4 miles TOPS. However, she kept insisting on tagging along with me on my long run, saying that she might as well "start out hard" if she's going to be serious about it. To make matters worse, she said she didn't want to "be a burden" on me, and insisted that I run my normal easy pace (about 7:20) and that she would keep up just fine.
No matter what I said, I could NOT convince her otherwise. (She's never really run outside of PE in her life, although she did swim competitively in high school).
So last Saturday we set out at 7:20 pace to do 12 miles.
How long do you think she lasted?
