Webb ran 27:34 for 10,000m looking like that in 2006 and was faster than Ritz at 10k that year.

Neither were 18 when they graduated high school.
Both are proven age cheats.

Verzbicas cheated.

Not saying Foster was the greatest master's runner ever, but he ran 2:11 at age 41 when the world record was 2:08. He was ranked 4th in the world that year. Lagat only ranked 7th when he ran 13:06 and has run only 2:17 for the marathon -- terrible for someone with his capability.
LV is not American. He's Lithuanian. So just because he's white you guys automatically think he's American? and you guys praise him like a god, while Chez gets looked at like an age cheat? Also, he was receiving Olympic level training as a high schooler. Look up the top HS runner coaches and then look where those kids are ranked nationally. If you have someone with the training experience of the pro scene mentoring kids, of course they will do far beyond well in high school. In college they might not have as much room to grow.
LV's parent's understood that distance running is dominated at the world level by Kenyans and Ethiopians, who can't bike or swim. They were working the long game and told him to switch focusfor long term gain. Unfortunately he had the accident. Compare American top 10's each year against Kenyan and Ethiopian top 10's and his parents have a point.

proven? why can't anyone who calls him an age cheat give their source or evidence?

Lukas is an American citizen. Salazar was born in Cuba, but I've never heard anyone say he wasn't American. That he was an age cheat is unfounded. The schooling in Lithuania starts later than in the U.S. so he was a year behind, but he caught up to graduate as an 18-year old. Why is that so unbelievable?
What is this is this magical "Olympic level training" that results in 3:59/8:29? Just about any runner wants to run as fast as possible in HS. Couldn't they research online to see how Olmpians train? Here is an article that contains his training program in HS:
https://www.runnersworld.com/advanced/a20805296/lukas-verzbicas/The running part of his training was pretty moderate.
amen brotha
I just rewatched 2010 FL and I forgot how completely dominant he was. He just destroyed the field and made it look easy. If he had competition I think he could have run 15s faster or more on that course. Honestly, he looked completely comfortable as he dropped everyone. Complete domination.
Yes, even Kiprop-like domination!

was beautiful to watch. i wish we could have seen him race at world XC champs U20 race
And what is stopping Verzbicas from running races now? He returned to competition after crashing his bike, ran races, did triathlons, too. Then stopped.
bump. lets get this thread bigger than the donald trump inauguration thread
I truly do believe that Verzbicas was the GOAT when it comes to high school XC. he was on another level. Graduated at age 18 so I am unsure why there is talk about cheating with his age. The claims for doping are unfounded.

You think he could’ve beaten Ritz in HS XC when both were in their prime? It would’ve been close, but I think Ritz could take him. Even if he couldn’t, I think Ritz has the superior HS XC resume, with his World Junior bronze. But Verzbicas has him beaten on the track easily (I really wish Ritz would’ve put more effort into the two mile senior year, but 13:44 isn’t chump change either).
Agree with you that the doping and age cheat claims are unfounded and pointless to this argument. Without proof, accusations are pointless.
