I'm looking at several programs in the Atlantic 10 conference. The schools are about the size I want and the times of their top runners seem to be at about the right level of competition for me. Does anyone have feedback on some of these programs, culture of team, coaching etc? Thanks
Which events do you currently run? And the school sizes tend to vary, so do you have a shorter interest list?
I went to UMass about 10 years ago but wasn't a distance runner. The men's team has a new head coach in the last 2 years who has more of a field event/sprints background. Not many people in the coaching staff due to money limitations, but there is a strong alumni program who help out with costs from time to time. No real indoor facility for training (there is a "walking track" around the basketball courts that have 90 degree turns and the surface is not ideal for track training; the sprints/field events typically go to Smith College to use their facility a few nights a week). The outdoor track facility is great - it was redone back in 2006/2007.
