It's commonly referred to as "bad press".
This particular forum draws plenty of attention in the track universe. The Tara thread will constantly be bumped for at least another year if she sits. Flotrack and T and F news will update as well. Petros shot himself in the foot with the Texas announcement. It makes him out to be a bitter, juvenile person.
So he should do it merely because some people believe he should and he doesn’t want to upset them?
It does not make him out to be a bitter, juvenile person in my eyes.
Were people bashing Courtney Frerichs and calling her a diva when she went to New Mexico?
She graduated from UMKC I thought. She also left with her coach.

Apples and oranges. No similarity between the two situations. At all.
What a bunch of snowflakes we have now! People are furious because the former coach said "Best of luck at the University of Texas!" Yeah he sure sounds like an evil guy, what kind of monster would wish her good luck!?
But you all cry "she missed out on the opportunity to announce it herself" like her rights were violated. She had the chance to, but was dragging it out for social media. She's a chronic liar, an attention seeker, and an entitled millennial.

“Chronic liar”
Interesting post.
Is Tara going to pay Georgia back for the fall semester education she received for free? She transferred before even competing once this year - she certainly didn't earn it.
Based on out-of-state tuition (
https://www.admissions.uga.edu/prospective-students/tuition-fees
), she got $22,881 worth of education, room and board.
If she cuts a check out to the school, then maybe they'll release her.

Are you saying winners don't quit after they've won?
"I'm going out on top"
How do we know that the poster is really her father? It is pretty clear that she sees the upside to running for Floreal for a year and then going pro. Georgia had their great year last year and now she is moving on.

Well, Tom Brady missed his opportunity to go out on top. But, who cares.
What I'm saying is that when the going gets tough, you don't run away from it. And, you don't whine and play the victim on social media.
Maybe she'd be in a better spot mentally if she wasn't documenting every moment and aspect of her life on the internet
Interesting that this thread has continued on and on, and that Tara's dad has joined the fray. To his credit, he's kept a cool head, answered some questions and I hope he continues to do so. Earlier comments (frickin' divas, attention mongers, shits gold bricks, mount olympus, etc.) were over the top and I apologize for them. I still think she's a diva in many ways, but hey -- having spent significant time around her at meets -- she's a great, great athlete, a true competitor and gamer, and has many good qualities. With all of the praise and attention she's gotten, it would be hard NOT to be kind of a diva. The social media self-promotion that her and Hunter do is rather ridiculous, but it's kind of reflective of the world we live in during 2018. I hope she learns some things and comes out stronger in the end. This is a gal with the potential to represent Team USA many times in the future and would love to see her do so. I remember reading about her epic youth performance at the world games 3-4 years ago when she was younger and thinking she was a tremendous clutch performer. We need clutch performers like her to be wearing USA kits.

There aren't many kids who are bigger frickin' divas and attention mongers than Tara. She's been this way for years. That said, she is nice and fun, too, and a great athlete. But she thinks she shits gold bricks and the world revolves around her and her boyfriend. Her parents put her on a pedestal the size of Mount Olympus. Her ass can sit out a year if she's gonna leave a program that worked hard all fall to get her in shape.

No.
It's too late to turn back now. The PR damage to his own image is done.
The only people that matter are potential recruits and their assessment of him.

I would think 2 athletes transferring and trying to compete immediately within the rules are pretty similar. Just because they are using different rules doesn’t change anything. We are calling her a diva simply because she tried to give some reason to wanting to compete this year, which was hertaki got public after her former coach did?
The two situations are not analogous.

Could you please explain how they are not the similar? I understand they aren’t exactly the same but they are quite similar.

Fully agree. The only track blogger I've seen that could do it in a somewhat entertaining and educational manner was former Oregon decathlete Mitch Modine.
