little challenges work. maybe something like a 4x400 where a girl and a boy are paired up, ideally on opposite ends of the fast spectrum (one is fast one is alright). Girls run 1 and 3, boys run 2 and 4. Rest 10 mins. Boys run 1 and 3, girls run 2 and 4. Make it a fun little race, and they get 4 fast 400s in their system. Make sure you let them know that you want the 400s to be as close to even splits as possible though, you don't want some of the boys running something like 55-65 on the first one and then 70-80 on the second one. Ideally, someone would run something like 65-65 and 65-65.
