For quite awhile she was three laps behind, running close to Pat Reagan, before she started to move up after 100 miles.
Here is the finish of the event:

The original vaporflies were very soft and not good on tracks or surfaces with any kind of slant. The new flyknit versions are firmer and much better on turns/tilted surfaces. Even then I'd bet the reason she didn't do the entire race in them is due to the soft nature of the shoes becoming less desirable on the track surface (shorter distances are still really fun in the VF on tracks).
I think she said something about them hurting the tops of her feet, like she had the laces too tight. Hopefully she'll talk about it. I just heard her during the live feed after she finished. I don't know what she switched to and I may have misheard some of it. I wouldn't conclude anything or speculate too much until she talks about it directly.
Watching the video on Facebook, seems like she's saying she changed from one pair of VaporFly to another pair of VaporFly.
She's from Oklahoma, and her birthday is Christmas

Women's marathon winner Camille Herron crosses the finish line of the 15th annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon in Oklahoma City on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Herron finished the race in 2:09:47 and it is her third memorial marathon victory.
Has the official distance been set?
Who keeps the official American All-time list and record progressions ?
Camille flat out put the heat on Zach, Patrick, and Courtney, and they all quit. Even more impressive is this was her first 24 hour race and nearly twice as long as she’s ever run. I predict she nails 170 at the World Championship with some competition. Major kudos.

It was not Camille's first 24 hour race
https://imgur.com/a/xwM6x4tTechnically it was her first time to go the full 24 hours. She’s learning and getting better. Give her respect where it’s due.

Ignorant nothing. I’m mocking her. I had to spend a 40 minute painful car ride with her. She came across as a stereotypic socially awkward person. She would uncontrollably laugh for no reason and sounded like a bird squawking.

Yes, it was the first time she went for the full 24 hours but it was her 3rd 24 hour race she signed up for. It took her a little bit to figure it out.
Everyone is signed up for 24 hours at Desert Solstice. There were people going all different distances and records. Last year she went 12 hours to break the 12 hour world record and 50 mile and 100k records. This year she went the full 24 hours at a slower pace to go after the 24 hour record. Hat tip.

What the heck. Either that "marathon" distance is way off or Camile is a lot faster than I thought.

Or maybe the caption writer got something mixed up (read the article).
That's a beauty: "Herron finished the race in 2:09:47 "
Do we have to assume it was a half marathon?

I think I remember reading that her legs have some sort of issue with them, like they're misshapen or have some orthopedic "thing."

I have to agree. But it works and that's all what matters.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
