Go Navy! Beat Army!
The only football game I watch.
Doesn't Army usually win this game by 45 points?

Army won the last two years but prior to that Navy won 14 in a row.

Then you miss all the good football just to prove some lame point.
Glad you're not really a coach wrote:

Good football? I find American football boring and don't enjoy watching people become brain damaged. But I'll cheer on the unselfish men of West Point and Annapolis.
I'm glad you enjoy watching the student athletes of Alabama, Ohio State etc...

being willing to go around the globe killing people because you needed a job isn't an entirely selfless pursuit.
USA v USSR at the Olympics during the Cold War was pretty intense.

Less than 5% will ever see combat. In exchange for a 5-year commitment they will receive a free education to a high quality school that is difficult to get accepted into. Attending either academy is a good foundation for a career and is hardly "selfless".

Yeah, that was right after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!

I guess fighting fires for over $100,000 a year and a nice pension isnt "selfless." Mother Theresa wasn't selfless either as she and her sisters believed these sacrifices can help them get to heaven and be rewarded for eternity. Still, I'll honor our servicemen and you can cheer on your fellow student athletes.

People are always talking about serving our country or fighting for our freedoms, but the cadets are being well compensated with a free education at quality schools. There were guys I knew that joined the AF for the sole purpose of receiving training to later become an airline pilot. And at the current time, there is minimal risk of becoming a casualty.

..and there's the fact that they are often actively working against the interests of the citizens of our country. Not sure why soldiers get a free pass for knowingly signing up for an immoral and unjust war. It's not like they don't know what they are signing up for.
I don't think this is actually very indicative of the majority of the military. Sure there are some people who are doing it for completely selfish reasons. Most young men/women who join just want a direction in life provided for them. The military will supply that. In return for giving the military several years of your life, they give you some pretty sweet benefits. You can do something for selfless reasons and still be compensated for it. It only depends on what your driving motivation was. I didn't join for money, but I'm happy that I get paid. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone here. I'll try and take a stab at an analogy here: competitive runners don't run for the health benefits associated with running. They run competitively because they want to win races, beat people, make money, etc. The health benefits are just an added bonus of being a competitive runner, but they are not the focus of a competitive runner. When you head out the door for your 20 mile long run you aren't thinking about how much good this is going to do in 70 years, you are thinking about how this run is going to make you race faster. Most military members don't join for all the benefits, but they'll gladly accept them.
then why join? They aren't helping other people by joining. Very much the opposite.

It just seems soooooo hollow now that Russia/Putin own our president. They really did have the last laugh.
