I 'm a freshmen at high school. Finished my XC season two weeks ago with a 5k PR of 16:55 (on a flat course). I really want to improve my track times this season. I 'm starting indoor season in the mid january.
My PRs are 4:54/10:35.
My training looks basicaly like this:
MO - morning 4miles easy
- evening 6miles easy
TU - 6×1k (3:10) 250m jog recovery
or a fartlek
WE - morning 4miles easy
- evening 8miles recovery run
TH - 3×2k (6:40) 400m jog recovery
FR - off
SA - long run 10miles
SU - 3miles tempo run
Easy runs at 7:00 pace, long runs at 7:10 pace and tempo runs at 5:40 pace.
My goals are: 1600m - 4:30
3200m - 9:50
Is this possible to achieve in the indoor season?
The two mile time looks a little quick with your current fitness. Although you have a very minimal shot, you would probably be best off at attempting that in outdoor season, because indoor two miles, are very hard. Wait till Spring and you will probably get that time in the mile as well.
Also, with your current fitness, you will most likely either burn out at the end of your junior year or run good times in HS and do absolutely nothing in college. We are both freshman in HS, I'm just like you, love going the extra mile, but your current milage at your age is just too much for our developing bodies to handle. Maybe average 30-35 miles a week and you will get the same if not better results than you want to get.
