Did any of you geniuses actually bother to read the story that starts the thread?
He's trying to make the team for '20 in the steeple. The 'thon was just a lark while he got into a high-mileage base-phase, and discovered that he really liked the long runs.
Maybe he'll go back to it later, but he doesn't care about actual 'thon times right now.
But yeah, considering the course, the conditions, and how much he had left for the last 7K, this is pretty good.
You'd definitely figure he'll get well under 2:15 without much trouble later on, and maybe a lot better than that.
