It's infuriating whenever I see these incidents of assault or murder by motor vehicle portrayed in the press -and by other posters here- as "accidents." Failing to exercise due care and vigilance while driving is no accident, it's negligence and a lack of consideration for the safety and lives of others, and should be prosecuted as such. "Accident," as it's too often erroneously applied, is a BS term designed to deflect blame from culpable motorists. The driver/killer claims Noah was crossing the street against the light. Sure.
100% agreed on the word "accident" when you kill or injure a pedestrian.
Makes me upset too -- especially when you have it happen to a very close friend.
Believe it or not, motor vehicles are secondary users of the roadways.
Pedestrians and bicyclists always have right of way -- no matter what the "light says" even if there is no stop sign or markings.
To me there is no accident in killing or hurting someone in a motor vehicle. It's no different then firing a gun at someone and killing or injuring them. When you get behind the wheel, you are in control -- no different than a loaded firearm. Carelessness kills.
I hope the the person driving their killing machine gets life in prison or the death penalty. I also hope the family sucks up the insurance money, takes the person's house, all their earnings, etc away from them. Teach them something.
I lost a friend who works for the DOT, because some idiot going too fast. Made me mad they called it an "accident". No accident in that.
