Sounds like I'll be buying the 4% on the clearance rack soon. SWEET!

I guess I’ll be still setting PR’s while in my 60’s!
Flimsy? Hoka quality is s***, and they're heavy. No quality control of their shoes. People are delusional to think Hoka is remotely comparable to Nike.
Doubt it. When's the timeline for these 5% shoes?

The BTC Elite club guys have been racing in this black prototype since April. I recognize the sole.
Rule 143: Clothing, shoes and athlete bibs
- Any type of shoe used must be reasonably available to all in the spirit of the universality of athletics.

Wait does this mean my 4%s are obsolete now?
yup! Nike's business model is selling you the best shoe on the market. To keep that model practical, they have to put out new shoes they say are better periodically.
Sketchers make the worst shoes by far. Some sub elite wear them because they get their POS shoes for free but even if you get it free it would be wise to buy Brooks or Nike instead unless you’re so poor you need to rely on Sketchers. Yeah you get free shoes, but they’re Sketchers - cmon

They STILL have 4% stock available. Either they've solved the production problems or the market has changed.
Any whisper on when the 5% is available?

I've heard June 10.

Yep, but don't worry I'm still trapped in 2005.

That's a great day of the year, just ask the Duke.

Why June 10th? What if I need them for London? Are you sure they'll be release AFTER London?
I heard April 10th.

Glad you didn't say the first, 4/1/19. I knew the June 10th rumour was too far out. The 4% is back in stock and no longer selling out. Any day, right?
This is f-ing stupid. Unlike cycling or baseball or many other sports, running is supposed to be decidedly about the individual doing the work. At a minimum, tech advantages should apply to the entire field, like a better track surface. Having shoes that blatantly confer an advantage is against the spirit of athletics, and people who run PRs in these shoes should recognize them as *PRs. If I attached springs to the bottom of my feet that let me bounce twenty feet with every step, could I count that? Come on, people.

Hey I completely agree!

I kind of agree, but it's a slippery slope. Even low end shoes today are far, far better than shoes of the 1950s, for example. Probably more than 4% better? (I think? I've never run in leather shoes with wooden soles - it can't be very nice.) Should everything since the advent of any type of rubberized foam get an * or should we just chalk this up to progress?
Improving cushioning / foams is evolution.
Inserting Carbon Fiber Plates is mutation.
You wear Vaporflys you have a different device attached to your feet.
That's why you take the asterisk when you wear them.

Did you read up on the tech at all? The carbon fiber plate is not new, nor does it appear to be the real driver. The improved foam is. Reference:
https://www.outsideonline.com/2367961/how-do-nikes-vaporfly-4-shoes-actually-workI have questioned how that report can even make sense on numerous threads on here and have yet to receive a sensible answer. Here's the key paragraph:-
"The results were somewhat unexpected. The bending of the carbon fiber plate stored and returned energy at a rate of 0.007 watts per kilogram with each stride. In comparison, the squashing and unsquashing of the thick ZoomX foam returned 0.318 W/kg—more than twice as much as either of the other shoes, and about 45 times more than the plate."
Now given that this study did not dissemble the tested Vaporflys into the component Plate and Foam parts (which they couldn't do re the foam anyway given that it is molded around the plate, both above and below) how can they possible have come up with these figures?
