I usually just let people slide when they say nonsense like this. I was once at a high stakes poker table where one pro was in the middle of a prop bet that dictated that he had to jog for 30 minutes per day. While he was a former college basketball player, this dude was now in his mid 40s and probably about 6’4, 220. He was also a heavy smoker and a massive pothead. Said prob bettor was telling me about his recent run, and he said that he averaged 9 minutes per mile for 30 minutes on the treadmill. I told him that was really good for someone who doesn’t exercise.
Another player quickly said “9 minutes per mile??? I can easily run 3 miles in 18 minutes!” Said player was in his late 40s and about 6’5 220. He did look like he exercised, but he definitely struck me as more of an “exercise with my wife and kids here and there, lift some weights here and there, I used to be athletic in college” type. There was no way he could get even close to 3 miles in 18 minutes. If he could do that “easily”, he would definitely be one of the fastest clydesdales in his age group in the world. It took every ounce of self control not to challenge him to prove it on the track for $1000. I stayed quiet and later let the prob bettor know that I thought the braggard was full of it. He likely would have accepted the bet too, lol. But he was one of the few genuinely nice regular players in the game, so I did not want to embarass him.
