What type of training did you do to reach a 16:30 5k and how long did it take to get there?

I ran and it took 16:30 to run a 16:30. Next question? Yeah, I'm bored. Sorry. As a hs frosh I've been running for 3 years now.

ran 18:15 in xc freshman year (16:54 that summer)
16:51 sophomore year only broke 17 once off of around 30-45 mpw
then junior year I ran 70 mpw with workouts (long run, tempo, speed) during the summer in hs then dropped down to about 50 and ran 17:00, 16:00, 16:39, 16:33, 16:43, 16:33,16:20, 16:32, 16:15
Later on after college running about 10-15mpw (ALL Fast runs) for a year or so. I ran 16:59 then 4:24 within a half hour at a lowkey college meet unnattached, Next meet 16:34.
I recommend a few months of base training. Consistency is key
what's your current 5k?

My current 5k time is 20:11 so I know I have a long ways to go. I was just wondering how long it takes most people to reach this point and the typical training they did to achieve this.
Don't aim for 16:30, aim for 15:30. Don't limit yourself. #nohumanislimited
I did it by just a bunch of steady running. Usually a hour a day of steady running and a hour and a half on Sunday, often hammering them pretty hard.
Thanks! So it''l take a few years of consistent training.

Sounds dope to me!
I can do 19:42. Not exactly what you were after but anyways I've been running for over 2.5 years. As in serious training. It would definitely take a lot of training ( probably 5-6 times a week) When I was 10 and 11 I trained every day but now my coach said it's bad to train everyday so I still train most days. So it takes serious dedication and many years.
How old are you?
If you're older than me than it would take you less time to reach 16:30

Wow, doesn't your coach know about doubles?
