Molly has a best of 2:26:44. Why do people think she can drop another 7 minutes? Has she not trained for her first 3 marathons?
NY tends to be tactical and the [people who have beaten her have PRs >7 mins faster. Boston doesn't really count does it?
Keitany, Flanagan, and Linden (wind aided) ran about 5 minutes off their PBs. Tusa was about 3 and a half minutes off her PB. Cheruyot was over 7 minutes off her PB. It was tactical but she didn't even run the second half in sub 2:20 pace off a slow first half in perfect conditions.
The times at Boston may have been slow for the top women but it does count for her gaining experience in marathon training and racing. A 7+ minute improvement seems less likely now that we have seen what she can do after training for the marathon seriously for a few cycles now.
