So I’m a high school runner with prs of 5:02 for 1600m, 10:59 for 3200m (1600 and 3200 was last track season), and 17:07 for 3 miles XC. I took 2 weeks off after the cross country season, then started running around 30 mpw last week to start training for the track season. I did a 20 minute tempo run last week at 6:10 pace and today I did an 8 mile long run at 6:49 pace with a 1 mile warmup and cooldown. Did I push it too hard on my long run today? I was feeling really good almost like I couldn’t slow down, it might have been runners high idk but I went out the door at 6:40 pace and held it for the run. Did I run too fast for my long run?
