What’s the worst thing that could happen to the sport or while you’re running?

What's the worst that could happen while you're running? You could drop dead of a sudden heart attack; be attacked and mauled to death by a wild animal; get murdered by a weapon-wielding lunatic; or get hit by a vehicle and left a quadriplegic.
A dog or some kind of animal attack and getting hit by a car and leaving me paralyzed.
End up like Bobby Trippe (Ned Beatty) in movie, Deliverance.
Dogs or hunter. Hunter with dogs ultimate nightmare.
CAR.
It should be everyone's, if they're realistic.

Trail runner here. My biggest fear isn't wild animals or falling off a cliff. It's bombing a downhill and impaling myself on a low-hanging branch right through the eye and into my brain.
I do a lot of my mileage at night to work around my busy schedule. I leave my phone in my car and keep my car keys in the pocket of my running shorts. I get a mini- heart attack when I think the key has dropped out and I am stranded in the trails in the middle of the night with no phone , no way into my car, and nobody to ask for help.
That, and I'd sh!t my pants if out of nowhere the Michael Myers piano theme started playing and I see a dude on the trails staring me down. Could probably outrun him tbh... unless I drop my car keys and was stuck out there.

When I'm biking, yes. When I'm running I avoid roads.
I do a lot of trail running.. in the Australian bush snakes are a real danger, I very nearly trod on one once!
I sometimes do worry that I’m a little too blazé about running solo after dark too.. sometimes though pretty dodgy parts of town.
And yes of course getting hit by a car
It could happen, you know ... wrote:

Thanks for adding another fear lol
Not getting my shoes tied in time for the start of a race.
Losing to a hobby jogger
Plummet into the abyss.
Running a sub 14 5k. The pain would be unimaginable. The howling and screaming and crying... nobody could stand to be near me.

Getting raped by a bunch of white guys.
Now if they were black... ???
Achilles tendon injuries. I don't really have any other fears.
Fear of someone a) calling me a "moran" for my running-related posting, and b) then wanting to "discus" it on LetsRun.
Discus, you morans.
I worry about if I'll sh1t my shorts again.
running shirtless
