That 'snow' is something that does not register in terms of moisture (e.g., moisture will be less than 0.005 inches of rain equivalent; of course the forecast can change). So, it will be flurries overnight because of several days of warmer weather with winds out of the south making more moisture in the air. When the air cools it precipitates out snow flakes out and there might even be some minor accumulation on grass, etc, but there will be no real snow. Temperature near freezing at race time with decent north-northwest winds for windchill values in the lower 20s. It should be a tailwind for the start and the last 300m, with a headwind for the 500++ meters before that. Dress warm but with clothes that you can run in to see more of the race.
Yo I can finish that in one sentence: Frost on the ground.
The temperature forecast has warmed just a tad, so there is a little more moisture in the air, enough to get close to half an inch of snow (for the 'expected' amount) but the precipitation likelihood is still no more than 50% at any point overnight/morning. Of course, it is still days away and has been bouncing up and down by several degrees.
So my plan to fly in Saturday morning may not have been the best.

You’ll be fine, this is WI, our airports can handle WAY more snow/ice/rain
Cold, wet toes. Painful. Good thing they keep the course mowed short like a fairway.
Still high humidity here in the mornings, so those temps in the 20s are a bone-chilling cold. Add wind from the north to the mix. Should be above freezing by the time the men start though.
Bumping this.
The weather forecast now calls for 1.5" snow starting late Friday night into Saturday morning. Temps are expected to stay right below or at freezing most of the day. Temps won't be cold enough to freeze the ground solid the next couple days, so expect the course to be slippery. Of course, this being Wisconsin, all of this could change in the next 48 hours.
Good thing Rupp isn't still at Oregon. Could you imagine the controversy if he had DNS'd at the NCAA championships?
looking like it's going to be sloppy...1-3 inches of snow predicted Friday night...but the highs are going to be in the upper 30s...lows in the upper 20s...

Forecast is getting worse. Light dusting of snow last night here on the west side, and 1-4" of snow and possibly freezing drizzle predicted tonight and tomorrow morning. I ran on the Ice Age Trail near the race course this morning, and the ground is pretty soft. Weather should be good by race time for the women and men, but the course will definitely be sloppy and slow.

Has there been any discussion about blowing or brushing the snow off the course?
An inch or maybe two could be runnable with little issue. If it is heavy, wet snow and over two inches this definitely could be a safety issue.
Tim Hutchinson complains on social media about the flat/boring XC courses in the US. Maybe if they run it in muddy conditions he will approve.
Compared to Terre Haute and Louisville, Wisconsin course anything but flat and boring. Mix in this weather with one of the more loaded fields in a while, we are in for a treat tomorrow morning.
Tonight
Snow, mainly after 11pm. Low around 30. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Saturday
Snow, mainly before 9am. High near 33. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Seems like perfect weather for a runner that grew up in Alaska. Running in snow will feel like 'home.'
Is there going to be a live stream of the race?
Why don’t they do XC championship where it is warmer?
When the weather's hot and sticky there's no time for dunkin' dickie; when the frost is on the punkin that's the time for dickie dunkin'!
I'll be rooting for Allie O. in the snow.
