So I’m a high school runner and was running pretty consistently around 70-80 mpw during the summer. These miles were almost only in singles with about 9 mpw in second daily runs. It was usually 3 workouts a week plus a long run. I ended up getting a stress fracture with 2 days before our first race. Because I ran on the stress fracture for 10 days (mostly limp running), my stress fracture was worse and I had to take 8 weeks off. I missed the entire season. The first week back I felt great and ran about 25 miles that week. One week later I was up to 40 and now I’m at about 50-55. I plan to stay around 60 this time in the off season. I have felt no pain and have been sure to monitor if people see me limping. So is what I’m doing stupid or is it fine to just listen to my body but jump in mileage quickly.
