How many seconds per mile would you say running on a soft surface (i.e. limestone) costs you vs running on cement or asphalt?
My initial thought is 2-3 seconds per mile for say a 10 mile tempo. Any research to support this claim?

I would say closer to 4-5 seconds. No proof, interested if anyone else has any research.
You could try actually running on either surface.
