Stumbled upon Tempo Journal - good long form running articles.
Gotta remember : i before e, except after c
Excellent article! Thank you for posting it.
It's very evident that these two are a couple (more than running). What is Brad's personal life status? Single? Kids?. I've known Brad for many years and for those of you who don't know he had substantial adversity in his teenage years. He was very good runner in high school (Kinney X-C Finalist in 1983) but had some questionable motivational techniques. He clearly was running for personal conflicted reasons and was rumored to be a somewhat 'Unusual" dude. This article highlights Brad's insecurities both as a coach and a person and it seems pretty clear that Allie gives him peace and a sense of self worth.
He's definitely a student of the sport and I hope both he and Allie find success with not just running but with each other.

You're no Einstein.
Their relationship is so strange. He is obsessed with her. The author is trying very hard to tell us that they aren't in love despite describing a couple that is in love.
it's interesting select comments are being deleted from Allie threads
let me say this much, if vaporflys are finally banned, both their careers are doomed
and she would have a literal heart-attack in the tokyo heat
and yes, coaches sleeping with their athletes is inappropriate if it's not like a solo coaching deal and they are your partner in a relationship - there's a team around and how do you think they feel when the coach is obviously (and admittedly) that biased towards one athlete?
Tighter editing would make it a great read.
Painful to read , it’s straight out of run on sentence hell.
How is he making a living?
It’s over. Brad ended the team.
Yes Brad is 20 years older than Allie.
Can you please detail Brad Hudson‘s life that gives us some more insight into him as a person and a coach ?
Interesting that the article never mentioned the "bigger girl" angle.
Hudson had a classic interview in The Harrier, I think in the late 80s as an Oregon senior.
one of the better articles that I have read in a long time about the athlete/coach relationship. Good insight for those of us that work with highly talented females.

"If I had to choose between coaching my group and her, I'd choose her." - BRAD HUDSON
For real, he's already thinking this way. There's no "well, since you ask me that way..." he just puts it out there that he'll jump on the next thing smoking outta Dodge. It comes off as desperate and wholly self-serving yet it works so long as his other athletes need him more than he needs them.
His athletes are leaving. Instagram post earlier today about one of them taking on a new coach in 2019.

And for all you aspiring coaches out there, it IS possible to coach a high level female without boning them.
Yes that may be true but that's probably not the case here.
Btw Allie is probably At her peak performance right now. I predict her future performances to fall short.
