So when it comes to stuff, how much is too much?
How many shorts do you have?
How many Tshirts?
How many long sleeve Tshirts?
Tights?
Shoes?
Jackets?
I need to pair down all my stuff, but I was just wondering if I was out of the ordinary.

Amount of Running Apparel = d - 1
(where "d" is the amount of apparel that will cause your spouse to divorce you.)
For me personally:
How many shorts do you have? Never enough
How many Tshirts? JESUS F'N CHRIST WHERE THE HELL DID ALL THESE T-SHIRTS COME FROM!!!!!!!!!
How many long sleeve Tshirts? Never enough
Tights? Two
Shoes? Three (actually six, three pairs)
Jackets? (Two)
This all depends on how often you want to do laundry. If you're a once-a-week person then you can get away with less. For me I have enough to go two weeks without washing.
Shorts: 10
S/S shirts: Endless
L/S: Like 4. Doesn't get very cold in LA
Tights: 2, ditto
Shoes: As many as will fit in my closet
Jackets: 3 (vest, L/S half zip, packable windbreaker)
What I have:
Two shoes, one pair of trainers and one pair of racing flats
Half dozen 1"-2" split shorts
4 tights
Over a dozen shirts
And a ball to roll my feet.

This is my goal. to whittle it down to where I have two weeks worth of gear.
For stuff I actually run in:
Running shorts: 23
S/S Shirts: 21
L/S Shirts: 18
Tights: 17
Half Tights: 8
Capri Tights: 5
Running Undies: 8
Looser Pants: 4 1000 miles)
The stuff I wear running sadly costs more that what I wear to work...
Like this morning, I wore my Brooks shoes, Brooks socks, CW-X full tights, Asics underwear, U/A sleeveless, Nike Miler Long sleeve, Nike beanie, and my Garmin, I was prolly wearing ~$500 worth of stuff. Whereas after I took my shower, I was wearing stuff I bought from Wal*Mart and Target at $75, if I'm lucky.
LOTS of running gear!
S/S shirts: ~3 dozen
Tanks: ~5 dozen
L/S tops: ~ 2 dozen
Fleece tops: Maybe 15-20
Assorted race shirts: ~100 (threw a lot away)
Tights: 6-8
Loose fit tights/Pants: 10
Shorts: maybe 30
Half tights 6
Socks: ~ 100-150 pair
Jackets: ~ a dozen
Calf sleeves: 10
Arm sleeves: 6
Caps: 10-15
I’m afraid to inventory. I’m traveling for almost two months and one out of my two suitcases is basically running gear only. Nuff said. (Though in my defense I was packing for both warm fall & cold winter weather.)

Do you have an extra house for all your running stuff?
Never enough stuff!
Six pairs of Brooks shoes. I live near their Outlet store so I stock up.
Socks? Probably about 15-20 pair of various brands.
T-Shirts: Probably somewhere between 25-30 that I use just for running.
Shorts: About 10 pair
Sweats: 2 pair
Rain jackets: 2
Wind pants: 1
Tights: 2 but I rarely wear them as I prefer the wind pants.
Hats: 2-3
Beanies: 3
Gloves: 3-4
Running shorts: 3 (could use more)
S/S Shirts: not many, I throw them out when they start to stink which is almost instantly in the Texas summer if I don't wash right away.
L/S Shirts: 4
Tights: 1 (could use more)
Half Tights: 1
underwear: 2 pairs of the most stretched out, stinking, smelling Champion briefs you've ever seen. Still get the job done, but I def need more.
Shoes: 3-4 pairs at any given time. 2-3 (whatever I can get cheap) for easy runs, 1 (pair of Boston 6) for tempo/interval runs. I have 2 more pairs of unused Bostons still in boxes in my closet.
At the end of the summer when I pack away my summer running clothes and bring out the winter gear I toss anything that's starting to hold the funk. This helps keep stock down low.

I have about 15 pairs of shorts... I use the same 4 for my shorter morning runs, can get about 2-4 runs out of each before they get too bad. The rest I can only wear once each, maybe 2 if I was going super easy on the first run with them. I wish I had more shorts. They are the limiting factor in when I absolutely NEED to do laundry.
I have like 40 t shirts and I really ought to give some away. Could probably get away with 10 or 15.
6 or 7 long sleeves. an appropriate amount I think.
4 pairs of tights. Technically 5 but one I never wear because its almost impossible to get on. I do not think I need more tights than this.
4 pairs of trainers (1 for morning runs, 1 for faster stuff, and 2 for regular runs.) Realistically I could get by with 1 faster and 1 regular.
4 pairs of flats I have acquired over the years. Really only use 2 of them. Could probably get away with just 1.
Too many spikes to count because I am a spike nerd. realistically I only use 2 of them.
2 good running jackets and 5 half zips. Wish I had 1 more jacket and 1 less half zip.
I also wish I had more socks. Another limiting factor in forcing me to do laundry. Sometimes can get 2 or 3 runs out of them. I would guess I have about 20 pairs of socks.

MY GOD!!!
Do your individual socks stay with a partner or are they in a more free form relationship?
Adding on now that I see people are talking about other things:
At least a dozen singlets. Do not need that many, could get away with one or two, but most are pretty cool so I'll keep them.
2 of my running shorts are half tights. I usually wear them when it is cold or if they are my last 2 shorts when it is not cold
2 running hats. Could get away with just one.
2 beanies. One is a big knit hat not designed for running, but good to wear when it is really cold. The other is one designed for running, good when it is cold but not too cold.
3 hand coverings: 1 pair of mizuno lobster mitts, 1 pair of pretty warm nike gloves, and 1 pair of saucony run mitt (perfect for very cold. A lot of my half zips have thumb holes and extra long sleeves so I guess I could get away with just the mittens.
Floridian here, so about:
6 tanks
4 mesh tshirts
3 pairs of shoes (cliftons / kinvaras/ antes)
8 pairs of shorts
10 pairs of socks
one set of arm compression sleeves
one set of calf compression sleeves
Need more from what I'm reading here lol
You should be able to go a week in any typical weather condition in your area without doing laundry, if needed. If you have enough running gear that you wouldn't need to wash clothes for 10 days, you have too much. The exception is tshirt. Enough tshirts to build a tower to the stratosphere is not too much, but any higher and its time to donate them.

This sounds like me. Never enough shorts yet somehow have an endless number of shirts.
I went through and cut down to a max of 12 of anything. I figure that means I could run for 2 weeks without doing laundry:
I got rid of a grocery sack full of race tshirts both short and long sleeve.
I only had to rid myself of 2 pair of shorts.
I do still have 3 pair of race shorts and 3 singlets, that I set aside.
