More riveting distance running action! How can the American public not want to watch a bunch of fake Kenyan soldiers all wearing the same kit???

I take that back what I said above. From the picture it appears that Major Chelimo got into another finish line dust up, this time with Sgt. Kip Kip Chirir Keino Kiplagat. That is always good seeing the self defense moves he learned while in the Army.

I don’t get it, the USATF website says that women need a 15:55 5000m time to qualify, but there were four women over 17, and men need a 13:45, but there were six slower than 14:30. Is the course like, insanely slow?

Looks like the Kenyan Championships to me. Yes, I said it. I get it. They're here. They're citizens just like you and me blah blah, blah. We don't go over there, become citizens and run off with their goats and brides. It isn't the US Championships if it is open to literally anyone that signs up to be a US citizen. Born here? Run. Not born here? No way. This isn't the Rift Valley, but judging from the men and women on the US road circuit looking for an easy paycheck you'd never know.
Liberal Dem here. But I agree with almost all of this. Lord Coe, please put a stop to all of this nation hopping!
Video just out from Runner's World:
Every year a local festive race has a 5k with a $500 prize to the winner. And wouldn’t you know every sub-elite Kenyan comes and runs, never to be seen again till the next year. They stay in their little pack both pre and post race. I’ve asked the race director to just make the prizes for state citizens but he hasn’t done it yet.
This Kenyan crap is destroying distance running in this country.
Mostly because she’s capable of 15-15:30 when healthy so she’d make it a race instead of watching Sisson gap this soft field and coast in for the win.
I mean I guess I could have said Houlihan. But that’d be an uncompetitive race as well.

You're absolutely correct thats the point, instant recognition they all sponsored by same sponsor!
Nike actually seems to be getting a little batter about this(although maybe not at every race) At Chicago, we had Mo Farah and the 2nd placer in red, Rupp, Kirui and Osako in white, and some of the other Nike guys in black+green. It made it easier to follow.
Rupp and Osako both had the white NOP singlets and Kirui had the white NN singlet. The differences for color usually only occurs if the Nike athlete is part of a group that is Nike sponsored. Otherwise all "solo" Nike athletes have the same tops.

Yeah, because restricting competition to give slower runners a chance to win seems like a great way to improve US distance running.
Since when did this country become so weak that we are afraid to accept challenges from the rest of the world? We didn’t become the richest and most powerful nation on earth by trying to keep out people and products better than what we could do (or bothered to do) on our own. Quite the opposite. We are great as a result of our willingness to accept those people, make them American, and drive the whole country to be better.
I am sorry if the athletic ability of certain African Americans forced the desegregation of sports and made it harder for white people to win D1 scholarships and become professionals. I am sorry if accepting Jews fleeing a repugnant Nazi regime helped the US build an atomic bomb faster than Germany. I am sorry that it took Toyota to show GM and Ford how to build an inexpensive and high quality car. And I am sorry that Kenyans have forced Americans to realize that they need to up their game if they want to compete on the world stage in distance events.
If you want a participation medal, go run in the kids fun run. Leave the real work to people who aren’t afraid to be challenged, fail, and overcome. We’ll keep the place afloat for the weak losers like you.

You seem like a PoS. This isn’t even thinly veiled racism.[/quote]
He's right, we don't become citizens. We go over there as 'expats' (illegal aliens) and then exploit them as much as we can.
Amazing road time... what is American road record for 5k..?

Unsurprising results for the top 2 men. Those Army boys are fast and excel at this distance. I love Centro but clearly 5k isn’t his strength.
I wish Infeld was healty and racing.
Why? She's a cringe.
Wash your filthy mouth out ???

Yeah, because if our best emmigrated to Kenya they wouldn't even make top 10 in most championships.
It would have been interesting to have 16 year old Kaitlyn Tuohy in the race. She would have won her first USATF Championship. I wait for the day Kaitlyn races athletes other than high school runners so she can show her true ability.
