Man, that's a lot of cash. Lagat earning as much as Wanjiru is wrong man.
Shalane and Desi are way to overrated.
I'm surprised how little, comparatively, for Ward. I know he hasn't been great since Rio, but dude is still an olympian, would not have guessed he would be getting less than so many of them.
Pretty sweet for Sellers - paid to enter Boston this spring, now getting $21k + expenses to run NYC. Good for her.
Any chance you have the numbers from last year? Would be curious how much, if at all, the numbers changed for Mary and Shalane.
Not to be that SJW guy, but 300k to the returning mens champ and only 200k to the returning womens champ, who is American? Kamworor has the accolades of world half champ as well.. but really?
Thought Lagat would command a little more, as I assume a lot of people are interested and will tune in to watch how he does.
How do Fauble/Smith/Vail command getting that much money?
What's the source of this info?
Yeah, that's not the full field.
I have an athlete running who was paid an appearance fee
Can someone give a source?
Only a very small group internally at the roadrunners would have have access. It would not be given out or shown to the press.

Based on what you know from your athlete, do the numbers seem in the ballpark?
My athlete got
Wow, do you realize if you put the less than sign, it erases everything? Must be a glitch...
My athlete received less than $10,000 USD. I think the appearance fees are in the right ballpark, but even I have to admit that I am surprised at a couple on that list. Some agents obviously do a better job negotiating than others. And the RD has better relationships with some agents and athletes than others.
and good luck to everyone tomorrow.
These numbers are wrong. I can promise you that.
It's not published anywhere and probably won't be. I got the information from a good friend who is in the organisation of the NYRR and shared it with you.
Take it with a grain of salt if you want but wouldn't have any reason to lie i guess, they seem pretty right to me.

Is it though? Not really. These are the professionals in our sport. Any other sport would have another zero behind it. Pay them more!

Being a professional doesn’t mean you should earn a certain amount. Other major sports pull in multi-billion dollar TV deals. How many people do you think are going to watch the NYC marathon tomorrow? They’re getting paid less because they attract a lot less money.

NYC is an AMERICAN marathon and going to viewed by a lot of AMERICANS. The hype over the event has gone WAY up considering there's 2 americans as WMM defending champs, one being the defending NYC Champ. You should know these marathons pay big time for the defending champ. Even Boston will probably slightly overpay to pay to have Yuki back but that's the name of the game.
In regards to Lagat, big time names always get paid quite a bit for their debuts. I mean 60k is a lot, but if he was a 5k/10k guy and won a global medal last year or in 2016 his appearance fee would likely be 100-120k because he has a shot at something big. Even Lagat in the current shape wouldn't even show up for 20k. The only pull they have is that Lagat would want to run anyway because he wants a shot at the 2020 Olympics in the marathon.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
