Seth Totten just ran 2:14.28 in the Dublin marathon and slashed 5 minutes off his PR from CIM. He hit halfway in 1:06.50 which is his fastest ever half. Course is far from flat but conditions were perfect.

Hmmm and his half pr is 1:07:14 . Odd. Very odd. ?
These boards only talk about a few athletes and are surprised when someone else pops on the screen. Those paying attention know who he is and who his wife Lauren is. Weldon, Rojo and crew don’t usually know either.

He was apparently a 29-low guy in college and is married to the former Lauren Jimison.

I don't know him from Adam, but it always bugs me when an athlete chalks up a good performance to divine intervention.
Right there with you. A true believer shouldn't run on Sunday.
I hate to say it but now that Rupp is done, this guy is our best hope for the US. Hopefully he can get down to under sub 2:10 in a race like London or Berlin or Chicago.
Not that it matters, but appears to be an evangelical Christian.
So which triathlete has a better chance of making the Olympic team, him or Gwen?
He's wearing the 4% though. Only worth about 2:16.

What? Didn't Rupp just run a 2:06 like three weeks ago?
Given the state of American marathoning, I’d say he’s ranked in the top 5 now. Of course he’s still at the 23 mile mark as Eliud flies across the finish line.

this was a reference to Rupp's Haglunds surgery.

A fairer question is who places better in the Marathon trials.
This should be the takeaway, any 29 low guy should be able to run 2:14.
40 US guys ran 29:08 or better this year, we should have 40 at 2:14 or better.
Good job to this guy.

anyone know his ethnic background? he looks like mestizo
He ran very aggressively with a lot of times being on front trying to drop the pack. If he had stayed in the group out of the wind he could have set a better time.
Looking at the results of the race, it would seem to be one more Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes would be attracted to. Running 2.13 isn't going to win you a dime in most city marathons, but apparently there was 12k euro for first prize here.
Also worth noting was that in 10th place, 2.17, was a 44 year old! Strong running for an old guy.

FWIW its a slow enough course
Lelisa Desisa debuted here in 2.09 before hitting 2.05 the following spring in Rotterdam
That 2.17 was also a PR from a time he set last year

He could feel Phil's presence and his 4% answered his prayers.
