Lee Troop walks away from his elite team

I feel bad for Laura because she has no where to go. She needs Lee.

She’s under a Saucony Contract which greatly limits her as a marathon Olympic hopeful. No NAZ, Hansons, or any Nike group as they all have ties to Sauconys competitors. Boulder has a bunch of pretend coaches that have no Olympic experience. Roots or Hudson would be a disaster for someone with an injury history. Broe sucks at anything over 5000.

I really thought she had a realistic shot in 2020.

You're making the assumption that she wasn't (partially) the instigator of this.

You're making the assumption that she wasn't (partially) the instigator of this.

Lee wouldn't boot Laura, it was the other way around and if she's smart then Laura naturally already had her next landing spot in mind when she did it. Whether it works out better than what she had will be revealed in time.

When would that Saucony contract end, by the way?

If she lands with a Coach that has coached Olympians then she has a chance. If not then she is in big trouble.

Guess she didn’t need Lee too much since she left him. Lee’s had a rough year. Lost his store, all his top athletes left him, and failed at being an agent. Wouldn’t want to be in his shoes and hope he lands on his feet somewhere that pays well and he’s happy. Based on his constant dramatic posts about being a race coordinator it may be time to let that go as well and start over.

As romantic as Boulder may seem, its a tough place to survive in the sport of running.

Expensive , no real jobs that allow the flexibility for coaching, tight running circles that are tough to break into. Its not so ideal for an athlete unless you have corporate sponsorship, thats why you don't see the best going there to be coached and trained.

It a sad day when we see the likes of Lee moving on ,the sports needs passionate driven coaches that will sacrifice all for their athletes. You were one of the best!

As for the idea that Laura needs Lee, then why when she leaves does he just up and quit on the rest of his group, which includes D1 all-Americans? Sure, it could be that he needs time away to deal with other problems. It's just quite a coincidence. Whatever the case, I do actually hope he finds a path to contentment.

The above post has some truth to it, however others ARE getting it done there.

Boulder’s becoming one of the more expensive areas in USA. Didn’t used to be that way

Lee is knowledgeable and passionate but he's definitely an acquired taste.

I can see how some athletes wouldn't want to work with him.
