Looks at the times today from SEC champs ....men's winning time was 22:27 (8K) and Women's winning time was 18:55 (6K).
Anyone know if the course at Auburn is short? Seems like strangely fast times, even for a golf course.
Thoughts?

Of course it was short. Pretty much everyone in the race ran a "PR".
Very flat with long, gradual downhills and likely 300-350m short.
Disgraceful if this course is short! If intentional by Auburn, then cheating! If not intentional, then grossly negligent! In this age of precise measuring and GPS verification methods, this "needs to be investigated".
Nobody would think it okay to suddenly have an NCAA football game or basketball game "end with time still on the clock"! "If" 300 meters short, then how many place changes could have occurred in the finish of this race if all competitors ran the "full" distance?
When those southern boys go to Wisco for a legit 10K they won't know what hit them.
82 meters short, that's all. Flat and fast, great weather. That's the conditions that you pr in;)
It was slightly short but definitely not by a ton (people were saying as much as 300-500m)
It was flat, both races went out fast, and it was 59 degrees, so the fast times had more to do with the elements
According to GPS it was about 100m short for then men, 75m for the women
The SEC is pretty strong up front this year, the Arkansas women and Ole Miss / Arkansas men are no joke. I'd expect the women to contend for a title, and both those mens teams top 10 finishes.

Meh. Whatever a GPS watch said, I would bet it was double that distance short.
Arkansas women will choke and perform terribly at nationals just like they always do. They choke worse than the BYU men.
100meters sort is ridiculous. How about 300. So why would your child claim this is their PR? What a joke.
Why does anyone care whether a cross country course is short? Let them claim 19:00 as their 8k PR, why would it ever matter?
Who cares if it's short, long, fast, slow, rainy, sunny? It's cross country. You race people. Times could not be less relevant.

My coach measured it with the wheel during our shakeout the day before and it only came out about 72 meters short. The SEC was simply stacked this year and had a lot of talent up front. Will be interesting to see howthey stack up against the slower times of the Big 12, Big 10, and Pac 12 at nationals. I’m guessing the SEC, and specifically Missouri, surprises some people this year.
The course was listed at 7,650m for men in 2008 and the times were comparable to this week’s race. It’s a safe bet that the course was closer to 7650m than 8000m

Why do you think there are no world records for xc?

Wasn't it raining? Some of the pictures I saw make it look pretty wet and soggy in spots. If so, not ideal for quick times.
I do think the SEC is improving, but it was definitely a significantly short course. I wouldn't read too much at times and focus instead on the gaps between runners and teams.

I measured it as well, point to point and I got 82 meters. It was a perfect day and they took advantage.
Are you kidding me? Mizzou men couldn’t run those times in a downhill road race with a tailwind!

Really? Measure it yourself before you start making assumptions. It was less than 100 meters short.
