I anmtrying to run a sub 19 5k tomorrow morning as a HS sophomore (6:07 pace) I’m thinking my splits should be 6:00 for 1 mile, 12:10(6:10) for 2 mile, and 18:20-25(6:00-6:05) for the 3 mile and then hammer it home, what do you think?

Go by kilometres, 19 minute 5k = 3:48 per kilometer. I don't know why more Americans run and train by kilometres.
So then like ...
3:42
3:50 (7:32)
3:55 (11:27)
3:50 (15:17)
3:42 (18:59)
???

Or, 3:48 kilometers the whole way and hammer the last kilometer:
1st kilometer: 3:48
2nd kilometer: 3:48
3rd kilometer: 3:48
4th kilometer: 3:48
5th kilometer:As hard as possible
Don't think you should aim to slow down in 3rd km, although getting out slightly faster than average to not get buried isnt a bad idea, you'll also have more people to work with since everyone goes out hard.
3:45
3:50
3:50
3:50
3:44
Really make sure to hold it together on km's 3 and 4
Well, how'd you do? I read your thread yesterday as I was trying to nail down the first mile pace.
I'm a 190lb 47-year old and my goal this morning was also sub 19. This was my first time I've tried to run a 5k as a standalone event. First mile was 5:56, second was 6:02, then around 6:10ish for the remaining 1.1. 18:53.
That's probably all I've got unless I want to spend more time on shorter events. They're fun..but ultimately not very satisfying.
