Ran Chicago & it did not go to plan. Ran 2:42 at Boston with even splits in that mess and wanted to take a shot at 2:39. Ran 80-100 miles a week. Did some good long runs and workouts -- 22 @ 6:30 pace, 18 w./ 10 @ 5:50, 800s in 2:40, k's in 3:25, miles in the 5:30s, more pace work in the 5:45-6:05 range. I felt fit and ready to go. I was conservative and went through halfway in 1:21-flat, running super even and looking to negative split but things went south from there very quickly and very early. I was already going backwards by 25km which seems much too early. I'm not sure what happened tbh.
So now I want to try to time out one more marathon attempt this fall. The fitness is there somewhere. I feel like it's going to be brutal training for a spring marathon so want to target something while the weather is conducive for training. Anyone have any good marathon suggestions? I am in Chicago so the midwest would be best but can travel although I would rather not.
Thanks!
