Currently taking a week off because my energy levels have been really low lately despite reducing my volume. Here's my plan:
Take a week off.
First month, back just easy jogging for about a hour. For, about 60-70 miles per week for the first month. With some strides and some progression runs.
Second month, start adding doubles and strides. Main workouts will be fartlek runs, progression runs and/or tempo runs. For about 80-90 miles per week for the second month.
Third month, double every day. Strides and hill sprints two -three times a week. Once a week a fartlek run and once a week a progression run. Total volume: 100+ miles per week.
Fourth month, same as third month but replace one of the fartlek or progression runs with some mile reps once a week.
So, far this year I've averaged about 80 miles per week.
Last winter I did similar amount of mileage for my base phase.
I believe my main reason for my energy levels being off is due to a race I did last month in brutal heat and humidity. So, I hope taking this week off will reset my energy levels.
