Last year at NYC I did 3:03 on 70mpw. This year I've upped the mileage to 85mpw and tried to do some more workouts. Today was my last really big effort (22 with 10 at mp planned) and I could only manage 6 at mp before I had to stop and take a break. But: I'm traveling in an inhospitable running area so did this on a hotel treadmill. It was probably 72 degrees, I was sweating like an absolute pig, and I put the treadmill at 1%. I don' know how accurate the treadmill was but I felt like I was flying for the mp section. Also ran 11 easy yesterday so the legs weren't exactly fresh (same treadmill and felt fine at the easy 8:15 pace).
Am I screwed or should I chalk this up to bad conditions?
Certainly not a confidence booster in any case. How can I get my confidence back in the next 3 weeks?
