Filling in the tail-end season for the Redskins honestly feels like a better fit for CK than other jobs that were suggested.
The big knock on him talent-wise has always been that the defenses figured him out and adjusted after his couple of star-potential years, and he was too lazy to study tape and/or adjust himself in response to reach his former prowess.
But all that is out when he's just taking third-string snaps anyway, just to fill out the schedule.
Other question is whether he'd do it for the wages of bag clerks and CFL-rejects like the other guys they're looking at, or whether he still feels he's worth $10-15m/yr for filling a utility role.
So it can depend on whether he wants to have 2019-20 options open in NFL, or plans instead to just hang with the social justice in-crowd. I don't personally see a lot of upside with the former for him. He could only prove himself wrong.
Take THAT, lowlife pigs and pig supporters!!
There is a scouting report on all NFL QB's. Kaepernick: 1) 4.5 40 yard dash. 2) Can throw the football accurately, 70 yards. 3) Can make all the intermediate throws well.
"Figured out" talk is a bunch of nonsense!
Good for Kaepernick. He sacrificed his lucrative career to stand up for what he believed in, has continued to give away his hard earned money to organizations in need, and has taken all of the nasty, racist anti-first amendment critics in stride. Those who believe in civil rights and true freedom of speech will be forever grateful.
I highly doubt your statements are accurate for him as a 31 year old, who hasn't played a snap in close to two seasons and who has been on a vegan diet for a couple years. He was flawed before the protests, the protests have just made him easily expendable. Here's a good article on his flaws written before the protests:
https://www.si.com/mmqb/2016/03/02/colin-kaepernick-robert-griffin-rg3-trade-future
Now, not only is he flawed, but he is rusty as well.
I thought your were going to provide quotes on the record from one or more NFL scout. Have you ever met a sport reporter? English major or journalism major. It often pays better to be a sport reporter than a straight news man/woman. Sport reporters do not have their jobs because they have secret inside knowledge about sports.
Kap is just another useful tool for the Left. He is not smart enough to figure it out and nor are the Leftist sheep. He can proudly take his trophy though as it built by racist idealists.
Pro teams know those numbers don't mean much, especially at QB. Making decisions under pressure, read & recognize, system deception, etc., these are what matter as to someone becomes star potential, or 3rd-string. And they make mistakes all the time (Manning vs Leaf).
For instance, Josh Johnson, who hadn't thrown in 7 years, had this about him.
http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/josh-johnson?id=264Yes, this is a great insight by SI into how NFL teams (offenses and defenses) really think about QB roles. Both the analyses of Kaepernick and Griffin are spot on.
CK has been beatified in his absence for other reasons, but really, he was reaching washed up. The career change to political advocate couldn't have been better time planned. Do you really think he wanted to play (or sit on bench) for the Browns/Ravens like Griffin has?
You have no NFL scouting report. You are expressing your feelings. You are repeating nonsense stated by a non-athlete journalism major.
Lots of hackneyed bromides on the "Strengths" (naturally talented height, yippee), the giddy is on the numerous Weaknesses, which indeed became the dominant factor after a few years, when he couldn't make necessary adjustments.
Analysis
Strengths Kaepernick is an excellent blend of height, build and speed for a quarterback. Possesses toughness and leadership qualities. Flashes good accuracy on intermediate routes. Shows enough arm strength to make most NFL throws. Won't have many passes batted down. Can escape the pocket and pickup first downs with his legs.
Weaknesses Plays out of the pistol, lacks experience under center. Has not been asked to make NFL progressions and reads. Not quick to check down or hit hot read against the blitz. Misses too many short passes. Doesn't have consistent touch on the deep ball. Release is somewhat elongated and can dip down to sidearm at times.
"Experienced, competitive, productive and durable but very raw in terms of making NFL reads and throws."
" Will need to become accustomed to making pro-style progressions and must improve overall accuracy. "
"Arm strength is good but needs to tighten up his delivery and work on getting the ball out on time with more consistency."
"Can make a lot of plays with his feet but will be too confident at times and take unnecessary sacks. "
So, every thing that became apparent down the road, was already seen in his combine report. AND HE DID NOTHING OVER THE NEXT YEARS TO SOLVE THIS. Instead he took the "natural talent" route, relied on athleticism, but then got dinged around in injuries (NFLers hit *hard*), and was looking at many years ahead bouncing from one team's back-up bench to another's. Life's better in Cuba.
That's right, basically a career developmental back-up QB, who happened to have a few flukey years early.
Never overcome these multiple red-flag problems, just like so many other hot prospects who blazed out after a few years. That's what makes picking this game (draft picks) so tough...
I wouldn't want that terrorist and cop killer supporter playing on my team.
Hats off to the Kaepernick family for adopting a black child whose father ditched and raised someone who made a difference....
You deserve the award....the parents of kap. Almost
