Some interesting footage of Suguru. I know a lot of elite runners have forefoot strike but Suguru's strike seems to be as extreme a forefoot strike as I've ever seen. It's almost like he's running on tippy toes the entire race (footage at 8:10 into video). seems to work for him.
also some clips of him training with Farah and Rupp starting at 2:38. I think one of the main assets of the NOP is that people who come on board to work with them see and absorb the discipline and focus of the main members like Rupp and previously of Farah. At the top level, I would imagine there isn't some kind of magical workout formula, everybody is working hard. but I think one of the main advantages that new members have in joining the group, at least on the distance side is feeding off of the focused atmosphere that the older vets on the team have set. I know a lot of people criticize NOP, etc. but I actually like Rupp's serious focus on the sport. doesn't hype himself by having social media accounts, etc. just runs and performs.
anybody care to help with translation of parts of the video? i'm interested to observe changing dynamics of that group as osako becomes more seasoned. he seems like a humble guy who won't necessarily disrupt things but I think it's good for Rupp to have some internal group motivation by seeing Osako catching up.
