15k $ is nothing for a typical letsrunner. Now if I had to let him bang my smokin hot model wife, that would have brought some excitement into this bet.

You are right, it is worse than I thought with my initial rough calculation.
First 5k: 14:57 --> 4:49 mile pace --> 2:06:21 marathon pace
Last 5k: 17:15 --> 5:34 mile pace --> 2:25:47 marathon pace

Yes. 30s per mile.

If you know anything about Parker you would know this is a joke.
For starters Parker does not have $15k to his name. He works a minimum wage job and struggles to pay the rent. He was simply pointing out that THIS BOARD IS A JOKE. Any elite runner only read this board for entertainment. No elite is truly looking for knowledge from letsrun. That was his joke to all of us. Brad Hudson knows more about the sport than any of us.
Having said that, it is a coaches job to teach pace as well. Runners like Des Linden are considered smart because her coaches hammered her with learning pace.
Wow, you think?
Everyone already knows that, but he's still making a point, albeit a sarcastic one. He reads these boards and has an ego, just like you.
He read things he didn't like>>>>((((((((because he went out way too fast)))))))))))---so now he's shifting his focus on "COACHING" versus his inability to learn proper pacing. Anyone in his shoes who can't admit that "they themselves" blew it, is going to have a hard time in life. Man up Parker, you didn't belong at that pace that early and you paid for it later on.

So who is brave enough to take Parker up on his offer?

Parker seems to be proving himself dumber and dumber every time he opens his mouth.
He blocked me on Twitter for pointing out that the reason he crashed in the last 5 miles, *again,* is that he stupidly went out with the leaders at 2:07 pace for the first 4 miles.
As somebody here pointed out on an earlier thread, though (don't remember who it was), it may be that Parker doesn't even *care* about actually becoming a good marathoner, and is really only interested in expanding his moronic SM following of dim-witted teenagers who make Parker out to be the next Pre --even though most of these idiots know *nothing* about Pre, and comparing Parker to Pre is beyond ridiculous in every conceivable way.
Parker himself gave serious support to this theory in one of his pre-race interviews where he said something about continuing to 'build his brand,' while spouting more stupidity about 'having no interest in going out in 66.'
Running fans should give their attention to *serious* runners rather than this pinhead,... at least until he *shows* he's anything more than a preening second-rater.
I didn't have an opinion on Parker Stinson until reading his tweet.
Now I think he's dumb and kind of a jackass.
I want to run 2:10 too! But like Stinson I don't have the talent.
But at least I can pace myself.
I gave the guy a chance, but when you don't fess up to the truth and now he's blocking people on twitter, he's permanently off my list of people to root for. People like him seem to love when they're praised, but that can't take constructive criticism at all.
I coach a high school team and have coached in College as well (before I moved). You just lost a huge following among my high school runners as apparently blocking people who disagree with you is a big no no among the youth.
Your Twitter post has apparently backfired big time. Time to fess up and admit you blew it by running at a pace you don't belong running at....sub 4:50?? Nope, too fast Parker.
I'll be in Atlanta for the trials. I was rooting for you as a top 3 hopeful, but I'll take Rupp, Ritz and Biwott instead. \
You read these boards all the time Parker, bummer for you to act like a little kid. Blocking people on Twitter?
Haha! Parker Stinson is actually a genius. He is Letsrunning the Letrunners.
Look how enraged all of you are! Your entire day has been ruined by someone blocking you on twitter, you've rambled on in a rage about it. This is hilarious.
But I'm a hobby jogger butthead who's been triggered by the fact that I still don't understand what Stinson did wrong in his race. Sorry, I was triggered from the start and have trouble accepting that I'm a brainless turd.
Brave? That's not a real offer, c'mon.
Hey Parker, let's do a Run Revel course and maybe you will even break 2 hours! Why reach for 2:11 when 2:00 is in site? You will be required to do certain strength exercises so you can really run down 5,000 feet and follow specific pacing. I accept cash, money order, check, etc.

Reminds me, he needs to switch over to and run in kilometers not miles.
Can someone please explain to me many of think that training in kilometers is better than miles. I’m genuinely curious. I’m only a teen and I live in the Midwest states

This is why.

To follow up- Japanese are chasing 3 min kilometers and end up running 2:06-10, whereas Americans are chasing sub 5 min miles (2:11) and running 2:12-16. If you go anywhere else in the world the races are in kilometers. Americans need to leave America and race elsewhere to learn to race by feel and be pulled along at a faster pace by the non-Americans going by kilometer splits.
He seems to think everybody was criticising his training. Very few people were criticising his training. However, everybody was criticising his race execution. Any first year high school runner should be able to look at his splits and see where he went wrong.
Some tips wrote:
Train like usual, only don't run 5m pace at 9000 feet for 40.247K a month before the race.
Buzz head. Wear 4% shoes. Wear half tights. Wear a tighter singlet. Head to Fukuoka. Don't go out so hard.
Some more tips:
1. Use the $15,000 to employ 3 personal Kenyan pacers (as some African ladies do) to take you through 1 mile in 5:10, 2 miles in 10:10, 3 miles in 15:10 etc and have them pull out at 23 miles.
2. Listen to your coach.
3. Learn how to run even to negative splits.
4. Read #3 again.
Why does Brad Hudson continue with this guy? If I were Brad I would decline to continue coaching him.
Nothing is wrong with his coaching. He ran the time he shoulda run. His training runs are like his race, starting a bit too fast but working out at the pace he should be running.
His post on twitter was aimed at idiots here who think they know more than Brad Hudson. The joke obviously went over peoples' heads, just as he predicted it would.

No, they weren't. No one ever said they knew more than Brad.
Parker blew it and I knew that when I saw him so close to Mo and heard the splits, pure stupidity and arrogance. He went out too hard and could have backed off after hearing the first mile split. Instead, he kept at it feeling that he belonged there. The group fell apart because they were ALL running faster than their abilities.
Obviously Parker has posted on here or had someone post on here. Not once did I hear or read anyone ripping Brad. He trained Parker well, but Parker blew it and simply can't man up so he's diverting attention to a running forum, one that he reads and may have even posted on.
Grow up Parker, you're looking foolish.
No-one is denying that he is impetuous. He knows it, Brad knows it, we all agree he went off too fast, but really, going off too fast does't cause disaster in a well trained marathon runner, the cost, time wise is very small, it just hurts even more than even pace in the last few miles.
But he isn't the only one who needs to grow up is he?

Back to your hobby jogging sonny boy. You know zero about distance running. Yes, those fast early miles destroyed him later on in the race. Now go do some growing up and get back to us in 10 years.
