Greetings- 52 yo WM with HM scheduled in 10 days.
My buildup has been good over past 12 weeks with last 3 weeks of mileage 40, 46, 45.5. I did a 14 mile progression run on Saturday and this morning did a 20 min x 2 HMP approximate workout with 5 min easy jogging in between and 1.5 mile w/u, 2 mi c/d. It's still pretty humid with dewpoints in 70s but that is supposed to change this weekend and race day is predicted to have a temperature in low 50s at start . I ran the 2 20 min segments at about 8:30 pace and felt good through about 35 min. The last 5 min was a bit of a grind. With a bit of a taper coming up, change in weather for the better and race day, is it reasonable to expect that I can hold an 8:30 pace. Most of the calculators I have looked at and used based on a 5k I ran last month in very hot conditions point to that
