how great would it be if he used the term hobbyjoggers instead of fun runners?

Thanks for the info EK! One of the reasons I love LetsRun is the wide swath of the world it covers.

Absolutely zero bad blood. Rivalry limited to running and even then, we'd root for each other once our own aren't in the picture. Huge Ethiopian community in Kenya, plenty of Ethiopian restaurants and never a complaint from Kenyans like you hear from Americans about Mexicans. Ethiopia has had problems and conflicts with virtually all its neighbours except Kenya. During British colonial rule, many Kenyan freedom fighters would escape to and seek refuge in Ethiopia. After independence, good relations continued even after the Ethiopian Emperor was deposed. Visa-free travel between the two countries even though Ethiopia checks everyone else. And one of the most prominent streets in Nairobi is called Haile Selassie Avenue.
And you can read for yourself what Kenyans and Ethiopians think of each other on this Quora thread.

Too fat...looks like he’s on the Josh Cox diet.
He looks perfect the way he is. He is perfect. His body is amazing. All the people teasing his weight, I'm sure you wish you had Bekele's body. He must be laughing at all the idiots here. I'll be laughing at people here after Amsterdam.
Will there be pacers in Amsterdam?
He does look kinda chubby, but I hope that he can go at least 2:05 in Amsterdam

If he is so fat and out of shape then try running a lap of the track at whatever pace he runs in Amsterdam and if you survive come back to us.
Yannis claims that Bekele does like cake.
He doesn’t look any different than when he ran 2:03:03 in Berlin
Anything over 2:04 and Bekele is pretty irrelevant on the world scene.

This post sounds reall homoerotic.

Really? So if he won in 2:04:30 you’d say his marathon days are done?
If it was a 2:08 I’d agree but 2:04 would still be great
Kenny's does look a bit chubby, like Tadese became in recent years. Too much distraction by his businesses, not enough focus on his running.
He does looks 10 pounds heavier . Great video , music !
Yeah clearly carrying some extra fat in those videos. I’m sure he can trim down pretty quickly though. However, when that was filmed he can’t have been training very hard.
Interesting that it took the Italian fascist invaders in the 1930s to abolish slavery in Ethiopia:

Haile Selassie was a sympathetic figure during the war, but was less than a perfect man in this regard.
re: "Absolutely zero bad blood" - I completely disagree with you!
The running rivalry is as strong as it gets and they do not root for each when not competing. I have never witnessed Kenyans routing for Ethiopian athletes and vice versa. Although Kenya and Ethiopia share a border, culturally the countries are quite different and are always in conflict over a variety of things.
I think he's feeling really ripped-off by missing it so closely in Berlin and he's beaten Kipchoge before on the track but Kipchoge has won their recent battles when Bekele has been in only mediocre shape. He knows he had it in him to go 2:02 but blew it. I think his best days are behind him even though he fluctuates in performance. In 2012 they said he was through, then he comes rocketing back! So its not impossible but he'll need pacers to carry him the whole way!
Here we go ... ? Another LetsRun 'expert'.

I am not Kenyan, Ethiopian or an expert in anything, but I do know there is no love affair between these two countries. Based on your handle, I am very surprised you don't know that.

Lol Mexico is so ingrained in our culture. From breakfast burritos to tacos to piñata's to cerveza's, it's culture is part of our every day, especially on the west coast. Don't pretend you know what it's like here because of immigration issues you heard on the news.
