So over this summer I was training for my senior XC season and I had a good shot of both getting my school record and winning state. However in late July while doing some altitude training with my team I got a stress fracture on my left tibia. It put me out for the last 9 weeks of running and it left me devastated and on crutches. But just last week I was cleared by my doctor to run again which was awesome because I had one month to train for state and I was already pretty fit because I'd been biking and pool running so it looked like I still had a chance at my dreams. Unfortunately though upon returning I did some light runs and my leg started to hurt the fractured spot. I thought it was just scar tissue or residual pain but after some time I realized that the pain hurt to touch in a specific area and hurt to jump which is indicative of a stress fracture. So I have my MRI scheduled and it looks like I'll be back in the boot and crutches next week and I'll miss out on my dreams... Just a whole season of XC(also my final one sadly) taken from me.
This post wasn't really for pitty even though I just realized I kinda made it seem like that but is there any advice anyone has just for overcoming any injury or an outlet to try that's just as fun as running.
Or share your own stories of injuries and recovery all the same I'd just like to see peoples injuries and how they succeded or any advice.
Thanks
