A course measured accurately to within a micro-twat hair does no good if the Masstards don't set up the freekin' right. Doesn't Boston have some engineers, like at MIT? I almost went there.

300m at 5:20/mi is 60 seconds
at 5:00/mi it's about 56 seconds.
at 4:48/mi it's 54 seconds
but I'm sure it wasn't EXACTLY 300 meters short. so you can probably add a minute and call it a good estimate. still well under 32 minutes which is great for a road 10k
She ran it just as fast 2 years ago, winning by almost a full minute.
So basically about 50 seconds short, or = 31:29, which compares to her 31:25 track PR and her 31:47 road PR. Really a good effort. Love this young woman, I hope to see her on many upcoming U.S. teams.
Emily is just?????
She is running 5 minute pace and finishes looking like a model in an ad in a magazine and with dreamy eyes....
She is something else.

Can somebody extrapolate the 300 meters for her pace?
31:36
30:39 / .97 = 1839 / .97 = 1895.9 = 31:36
AWESOME! I'm excited to continue following this rising stars' career - she is such a talent! Tokyo2020 for this young lady (hopefully)!!

No date posted on course measurement.
Course altered at last minute, invalidates measurement.
So about 31:36 for the full 10k - still pretty quick.

Great performance by Emily Sisson, too bad she'll never know what her 10K would have been that day. But hopefully she can use the effort/result psychologically to motivate her toward her next few races and get some new personal records.
Sad day for the 10K Race itself. At one time it was one of the popular races on the national circuit and had well over 3x the numbers from yesterday. Then numbers began to decline, Tufts dropped it. Thankfully Reebok came in and provided overall sponsorship. And now hoping to rebound and rebuild - this happens. Not good. Not good at all. Next year may be vital to this race's survival in the long term.

Dave Monti tweeted the course was 300 yards short
Why state how short a 10k course was in yards?
Why give mile splits and not kilometers?

If they knew it was short, why didn't they add to it? If they didn't know, why didn't they know and when didn't they know it?
Agreed. Let's get the Warren Commission on this. The American public deserves answers. Leave no stone unturned. May God protect the righteous.

Barring fatigue...30:39 converts directly to 31:35 ...still pretty darn fast!
I ran the race on Monday (about 25 minutes slower than Emily) and knew it was short when I passed the four mile mark and my Garmin showed 3.8 miles. I received the following email later than night.
Important Note on Today's Course
We want to update you on a late course change we adopted in today’s race.
After today’s race began, race organizers and volunteers working the second turn-around point on Memorial Drive were asked for cooperation by area public safety agencies on moving the location of the turn-around point. In an effort to be as responsive and collaborative as possible, we altered the traditional location of this turn-around by approximately 150 meters. The result, unfortunately, was a shortened race course by approximately 300 meters, thereby making the day's race ineligible for records. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
No further details yet as to what the safety issue was, or why they left it so late to make the change.
