RunnerSam - Thanks for the kind words, and I agree with you...I have seen only one result, and that was Smoove’s 2:30:45. Where are the others?

1.5 miles running yesterday. Told RRR in a text I think my running is to an only if I have to point. Knees were screaming with every step at that meet. I'll continue to try getting them better but reality says it won't happen.
Stone Cutter: Nice week!!! Sorry for your loss. I've met a few people like Larry. They are always hard to see go. Some people have a spark that just burns brighter. They make everyone one around them shine brighter too. In dark times, though not around they will still provide a light.
Tall dark roast: Nice week!!! Glad to see it picking up. Not everyone can run with the banana suit guy. lol
Harrier98: Nice week! any reason for the distances of reps on Tuesday?
Coach Jeff ROC: Nice week! Congrats on the win!!! Clusterfvck 10k champ. Has a certain ring to it.
RunGuy Midwest: Nice week nice race!! It may be a good thing to not have pushed it with only 2 weeks before the main race.
RRR: Nice week! This next half should be good. If not it will be very informative on what needs to be worked on next.
th3bt: Nice week!!! Sorry about the hammy but great job in the race!!! Congrats on 3rd and some cash.
Sub 6:00: Great plan on the recovery. How is Poland?
pewow: Nice week great race!!!
Bdubs: Those races sound fun. Sorry to hear about the foot. Have you had an MRI on it? Sometimes X-Rays dont show everything.
Post more later. Fixing some plaster and need to get back before the wife creates a full removal, drywall replacement.
Congrats Smoove, AJ, GT, and Andy. Well done all!
A roll back week for me. Thought it would be a good idea. Took Tuesday off, as my legs felt quite heavy on Monday. Started to feel good again toward the end of the week. Hot/humid here today.
M: 6.5 at 6:58 overall...heavy legs
T: off
W: 10.75 at 6:42 overall...kind of a fartlek
T: 10.5 at 6:40 overall...felt pretty good...6:28, 6:31, 6:21, 6:09, 2:58 to finish
F: 10.33 at 6:35 overall...hilly...felt good...6:33, 6:30, 6:24, 6:12, 6:10, 1:57 to finish
Sat.: 15.14 at 6:38 overall...hilly...felt strong...6:21, 634, 6:24, 6:27, 6:17, 6:09, 5:57, 0:47to finish

Have a great week, everyone!
Coach Jeff - Nice work with the 10k, and I meant to say that I very much enjoyed your comment prior to the 20-miler, describing the race as a “bibbed flyer.”
Allen1959: Nice week even with the hamstring. the LR looked good.
RunnerSam: Looking good!!!
outsiderunner: Nice week!! the heavy legs were probably from the 20 miler. Smart to take off and glad to see the rest helped.
Now for the Chicago Guys: Woohoo!!! Had to stream it and watched the whole thing while following you on the tracker. All I can say is I'm impressed.
Smoove: Your training was crude the whole cycle and your goal was high. I learned before not to count guys like you out and knew you'd have it in you. You still ran faster than I thought (2:33). Sub 2:30 was very close and the calf's cost you that but what an impressive run under the circumstances. I'd definitely give it an A. Great job!!!
AJ: Very impressed! I thought you might have been in some trouble right after the half to 25k. All you did was pick it up from there. Great job!!!
GT: 2:57!!!! Very impressed. RRR was giving a play by play the whole time. Every time I thought you were slipping off the pace you came back with a good split. Congrats!!! One heck of a race. Great job!!!
Hoping Andy did well.

Hello, RRTT. I’m a long-time “lurker” and have crossed paths with several of the Florida contingent--Jeremy R, Smoove, Pablo (a long time ago). And even NumbersGuy/StoneCutter and I exchanged emails after his Gettysburg Marathon breakthrough --thanks. You all have been an encouragement to me for a long time, and you’ve helped me improve as a runner. So again, this is a long-time-coming thanks. I’m hoping to jump in here for a bit as I attempt a comeback in hopes of giving it a shot at a couple races, a half and possibly a 5k early next year. This was my first week back to run training after some XT for the summer. Hoping to build a base over the next 8-10 weeks.
M - off, planned
T - 7 with 5x1’ hill
W - 8 easy
Th - 8 easy
F - off, unplanned
S - 10.5 easy/mod
S - 6.5 easy with strides
Total 40mi
Great job Chicago crew! Wow.
Thanks Pappy.
Andy set a PR, but was unnnecessarily down on himself just a little as he just missed a major time threshold. He's such a disciplined and smart runner. He passed me early, which means he started behind me in his typical disciplined way.

I'm proud of that one. I wasn't in a great mental place going in, but I left it all out there and went for it at the end.
Well, you stuck to your guns and ran a positive split. Still not a bad showing and a couple minutes faster than I gave you credit for fitness wise.
Smoove is like an older boxer. It’s the term “a punchers chance”. Even if not in the shape you feel you should be in. Or having the best ever buildup. Someone w so much mental will and balls can run a fantastic race anyways.
Will always remember foreman knocking the Piss out of Michael Moorer when I was a kid. When foreman was old as hell.
TDR - Glad to see you jumping back in it and starting a cycle. And, man, I thought my 4:00-4:30am starts were early. I think you take the prize on that one.
WH - Enjoy the vacay.
Harrier98 - I like the structure of your week.
Coach Jeff - Taiwanese Fire Drill 10k. I might have to try that one sometime. And great screenshots of Smoove. That’s a man fighting right there.
RGW - Continue to look at your cycle as a whole. Not just today. Your body of work says you got a great chance at Sub-3. Like Pappy pointed out, probably a blessing you didn’t overextend yourself today. The big prize is in two weeks.
RRR - Making 83 miles look like nothing. Excited for next weekend’s HM. No stopping you right now.
th3bt - Congrats on the strong race, the cash, and the happy women. Maybe not in that order. Agreed, sub-2:45 looking really good after today.
Sub 6:00 - Wishing you a speedy recovery. You are playing it very smart.
pewow - Sounds like a pretty wild race. If only it was a Taiwanese Fire Drill 10k on that course.
Bdubs - Hope your symptoms improve. Aside from monitoring pain, are there any daily tests/exercises you can do for your foot?
Allen - Very impressive long run! I did a double take on that one.
RunnerSam - I did a comparable long run a bit shorter and slower (I think it was 18 miles at 6:40ish) in my buildup to 2:47. Your weekly volume is consistently much higher than mine also. I think you have a really great chance at 2:45, which would be a fantastic debut.
AJ - Nice PR. You are so consistent. You never seem to have an off day, made all the more impressive by a guy of your stature for an event not traditionally suited for giraffes.
Smoove - Mad mad respect. I’ll say it again. A heroic performance.
GT - So what if you didn’t accelerate it at the end? Perfect execution of your plan. Congrats on the barrier breakthrough. It won’t be long before you are breaking 2:50.
Pappy - You sure are a fighter. God, I wish the knees would cooperate for you. Your weekly comments are much appreciated.
OR - Smart to give yourself a little respite after last weekend’s race. What kind of volume/workout ideas do you have between now and Richmond? Or are you just playing it by ear?
pedro - Welcome. God it’s eerie how similar our stats are. Height, weight, age, PRs. You have two daughters too? Looking forward to your buildup.
Andy - Don’t beat yourself up. Great, intelligent race! Recover and then Dallas in December, right?
wow! amazing days all around! great job, Smoove, AJ, GT! loved catching up on the race.
Gentlemen, great racing all around today. I will do comments tomorrow. I was tapering down and had planned to race a half today, but the conditions weren’t going to be ideal so I switched it up and went big on Friday.

Major congratulations to Andy, Smoove, AJ, and GT! Very impressive work today guys!
Very sorry to hear about your friend's passing, Stone Cutter.
My week:
M 27 shuffle (short on time).
T 1:24 with trolley track fartlek (240 steps quick, 180 steps easy, give or take). Cool, misting, pleasant weather for running. Started this run from the mechanic, where I dropped off my not-so-happy car. Kind of out of whack initially myself, but made it to the park and figured I would try a little light fartlek. Felt quite a lot better from the first pick-up and ended up getting in a good amount of quick-but-not-too-hard running. And the heel was not too grumpy, either. The car, though…
W 58 Robert’s Hill trails easy with 7 x sledding hill easy. Mild but humid after heavy rain yesterday. Took it easy for the most part but tried to run with just a little spring in my step on the hills.
Th 1:47 Earl’s Trails/Tinker Hill easy. Another scouting run. Took a different approach this time and managed to stray from my intended route within the first quarter mile. Wangled my way up to the top of Tinker Hill and kept myself better oriented after that for the most part, including finding my way back through the area where I got lost last time out. Heel held up well, but I took a wrong step that seems to have yanked something in my right hip, so I’ll have to keep an eye on that.
F 17 shuffle. Hip seems ok, but after limping around yesterday, caution seemed warranted.
Sat 27 shuffle. Hip seems ok. Still being cautious (and short on time).
Sun 47 with 2 x park loop TT in 15:04. Mid 70s and humid, definitely felt that. But hip was fine, PF was ok, legs felt pretty good overall. Two laps of the park comes to very approximately 4k, so I was running just a little over 6:00 pace. Gives me a point of reference going forward, anyway.
6:07 total. Kind of a wonky week. Looking to get things on a little more of an even keel going forward.
Going to take me a while to get comments together, unfortunately.
Smoove!!! Super inpressive! You deserve it...you made my day. I had to come back to this weekly thread and show some appreciation. Hope everyone’s training is going well.
Runnersfix! Great drive by. Smoove kept us up-to-date with all of your successes. So proud of you and the lady for all of your accomplishments. Best of luck with Hansons. Can’t wait to see what you do at CIM.
Stone - Sorry for your loss. I like what Larry had to say about going for something out of reach. Very inspirational.
Some excellent racing this week.
GT - It really looks like things came together on race day. Awesome job! Next sub 3 hopeful on deck is RGM.
Smoove - You got guts and really went for despite not being in the right place mentally. That cash prize and race stats are nice.
AJ - Great performance and congrats on the PR.
Andy - Congrats on the PR.
Coach Jeff - Congrats on the overall win despite the clusterfvck organization.
pewow - Sounds like you had a good time at the race. Will there be more trail races in the future?
Bdubs - That's some pretty fast running on an injury. Hope the foot gets better soon.
Question for the Chicago runners - Was there enough rain to keep you cool with the temp ~60°?
My week was ..... meaningless compared to the incredible performances in Chicago today.
Huge, heartfelt congratulations to all of you, Smoove, AJ, GT, Andy, goes out from London tonight.
Well done. Inspiring stuff and almost makes me want to run a marathon again one day!
Bask in the glory and know that you earned every last drop.
Weather was great. Rain was indeed cooling. Made for a little slippery footing, but that had no ill effect on my time. Best weather of my 4 marathons.
