Only two pacers ? WTF, I've never seen a major paced marathon without 3 pacers...I guess Chicago couldn't afford to pay more
Wow, the coverage went south all of a sudden with that ridiculous party coverage, Wonder Woman, great...

I heard the Letsrun reference on NBCGold. Followed quickly by the British guy telling us, in a somewhat snobby tone, how it is very unlikely that either Rupp or Farah will win, despite the attention. He could be right, but I hope he's not and it will be interesting to see what he says late in the event that one of those is leading and wins.

Ok.
I've figured out the 3 broadcasts options.
1) NBC Gold has international announcers. No joke the first words I heard on their broadcast were "talk about her on the LetsRun.com message boards" There won't be commercials.
2) The NBC Chicago Broadcast is embedded on the LetsRun homepage and has Tim Hutchings and others and local NBC crew.
3) Olympic Channel Broadcast has Paul Swangard and Josh Cox.
Not sure what's worse, these local Chicago clowns or Josh Cox on the Olympic Channel.
And they have a third set on the international feed/NBC GOld. The first words weldon heard when he turned that on were "On the letsrun.com messageboards." So I guess we have a winner.
I timed the first mile in 4:49. have they said antyhign yet? Did anyone get a weather report at the start?

Almost time. I find for some reason this particular Chicago marathon exciting. For me anyway. I'm looking forward to womens race, With Jordan and Amy missing in action my focus will be on Gwen...how fast will she go and what place she'll reap as she continues her march towards a predicted Gold in 2020.
Of course the Mo and Galen set up is good. I'm glad it has a missing element of deep disike towards one another. At least I haven't seen it.
So lets see what happens. And I wish I was there, I truly do. However, this is good too letsrun. And no, I can't watch it on tv...no tv. My left over homeschooling days.
I love you Patti!!!!!!!!
This coverage is going to be painful if we keep switching to "people on the street"
Is A. Kirui wearing a hat, gloves, and sleeves? It is 60 degrees out right? And humid?
I hope Yuki throws some surges at the lead pack the first few miles just to make Sir Mo mad.
M.A.G.A.
Parker with the front pack at 2 miles in 9:3x
They said 4:46 for the first mile.
Lots of confusion it seems, apparently Chumba told the two poor pacers to step off the gas ?
4:46
4:54 ?
Men's first mile was 4:46 -- almost exactly 2:05:00 pace
Women's first mile was 5:07, which was 2:13 pace! But they didn't say which women were at the front.
Ya, Stinson still in there, nbc said they're on 2:05 pace?
Stinson looks like he is working way too hard.
Wow, split screen while interviewing the banker dude. Kudos to NBC.
What feed is everyone watching? These NBC chicago interviews are extremely irritating.
Men almost dead-even as they go 4:46-4:47 for the first two miles. Parker Stinson has chosen to go out with the lead group and is hanging on at the very back. There's a sizeable gap to the chase pack behind him...will be interesting to see what happens to him, but he's not running 2:05.
Wow that BOFA dude knows zilch about the marathon, he wishes "for a new World Record" !!!
ARe people stupid? If it's humid, don't go out on 2:05 pace if you are hoping to be a 2:10 guy.

Dewp oint isn't quite as bad as forecast last night.
Rupp already looks less smooth than Mo :( Rupps stride looks pressured.
