Is this slower than Galen and Mo's marathon tempo pace? Seems like they would be almost too comfortable at this pace, hopefully they pick it up soon.

Oh, right, so who's the other Japanese in lead pack?

the 2:12 group is still on 2:12 pace. Yuki is there with Aaron Braun.
That would be the perfect spot for Stinson. The right pace, and expending much less energy running even miles with a group.
He has a 2:18 PR. It would be MASSIVE for him to run 2:12. If he actually has more ability and felt great at halfway, maybe we could run 1:06 /1:05 --> 2:11. And start thinking about 2:10/sub.
But he decided to run 2:05 pace for five miles.
Yuki about to come from behind to win in 2:08:30 when everyone else blows up in my fantasy imagination.
In reality, the lead group is almost legit 10 seconds behind the pacers.
G. Kirui is throwing in a surge, just strung out the pack!
Kirui with the first move!

This is going to be great. I wanted the NRs to fall but this is going to be a fun race. I can't recall a major marathon where no one goes with the pace.
ANd theyre we go 43 minutes in. Kirui goes with the pace makers. Very smart. The guy is BEAST. As I say that, if he'd just waited in Boston, he would have destroyed everyone but here use the help when you have it.
Break away is happening. Kirui is pushing the pace.

This race is a mess !
Are the conditions worse than what they appear to be on screen ? Why aren't 2:04 guys like Geremew not pushing the pacers ?
De Ja Vu to Mo's entire track career of not going with the pacers...
back to 2.06.47 pace after 15k
I like this weather animation
Splits so far
5k - 14:52 - 2:05:15 pace
10k - 30:10- 2:07:04 pace
15k - 45:04- 2:06:34 pace
G. Kirui seems kike he wants to start moving faster

pack has mostly caught up to Kirui
Who said Chumba wasn't there ? He is !
Pace seems to pick up a bit 45:04 at 10k -> 02:06:47
Fyi, at 15k, Stinson is one minute back with the 2nd pack and Yuki is two minutes back.
My money is on Yuki cleaning up the all the elites that went out too fast and winning the whole thing.
