No one picking Karoki?
No one picking Karoki?
I'm not gonna try and predict the winner, since I have no idea what kinda shape the other guys are in, but for the 2 matinee-idols --assuming there aren't any storms to mess things up, and the pacers do their jobs pretty well-- I'm gonna say,...
Mo- 2:04:51
Rupp- 2:05:07
Leaders hit the half at 1:02:22; G tries to drop Mo with a surge from about 6K out, but can't quite do it.
Mo takes him in the last 800.

That is just stupid if the second pace group is that slow.
False. The dewpoit is going to be 57. In Berlin, it was 50. Anything over 55 slows you down a little bit.
I don't like to talk about humidity but will in this case . It's going to be 90%.
I really think the leaders should go out in 62:30 at the fastest. I don't want the men's race to be boring as hell as all but 1 or 2 blow up. I want to see multiple guys throwing haymakers.
I like it, really want to see three under 2.05.10

I just want Kipchoge to be there dressed like a hamburger or something to come in and run in costume and beat them all.
Rabbiting the race and going on to win dressed in a rabbit costume would be more appropriate, not sure which one though:

With the likes of Chumba, Choge and Karoki in the race, those three could do some serious damage, especially Chumba. Dude knows how to podium.
However, I just think Mo is going to be too strong. WE know G Kirui can win tough courses, but what can he do with pacers on the course? WE shall see.
If Mo does not get the win, then I have to go with Chumba. However, Karoki knows how to blaze behind pacers.
tough, tough call.
Once again, you're all forgetting about Yuki.
He must loooove high dewpoints.
Yuki FTW, 2:10:32
Any Masters age group races worth attention?
Someone mentioned JBS in a sub 3 w60+ age group attempt. Record?
Dickson Chumba FTW.
He's so solid and, apparently, in the best shape of his life.
Pacers are not good for Rupp/Farah racing style.

I guess you didn't watch the london marathon.
Temps on the 50s and dew points in the 50s with a light rain at the beginning. As long a this rain doesn't get too heavy, might be perfect conditions. Dew point will start rising near the end, but shouldn't affect most people.

Can't believe that no one has corrected that start time yet: 7:30 am CT, 8:30 am ET.
Anyway. Rupp FTW with AR but no course record.

Yeah. That Dew Point is going lead to some slowing. Forcast looks to be in the 53-54 range for 2:05.
Humidity forcast down to about 80% for these guys.
http://findmymarathon.com/weather/chicago-marathon-weather.phpA tad optimistic, but your placing is likely. The fact this race is paced favors the Kenyans and Ethiopians, of which Geremew is probably the highest quality. Farah is simply better than Rupp and will finish ahead of him, and Kirui will also always beat Rupp.
Don't forget Karoki, who could have a breakout marathon, and Choge, who is having his debut. Choge apparently trained with patrick sang in his buildup, so in addition to him once being one of tracks most promosing youth, makes him a big darkhorse.

Interesting. The weather apps I use have increasing rain with wind out of the NW at 10-12, which I think is being overlooked. The finishing stretch will be brutal - a wind with a Northerly component can really get howling as it is funneled in by the streets in those last few miles. I think it’s going to be difficult to close fast.
Almost time. I find for some reason this particular Chicago marathon exciting. For me anyway. I'm looking forward to womens race, With Jordan and Amy missing in action my focus will be on Gwen...how fast will she go and what place she'll reap as she continues her march towards a predicted Gold in 2020.
Of course the Mo and Galen set up is good. I'm glad it has a missing element of deep disike towards one another. At least I haven't seen it.
So lets see what happens. And I wish I was there, I truly do. However, this is good too letsrun. And no, I can't watch it on tv...no tv. My left over homeschooling days.
