Hello, I’m a senior in high school and run mainly the 200. I’m built like an average distance runner, 5’10” 135lbs. However, I’ve ran a 23.7 open 200 and split a 23.1 4x200 my junior year. I lifted 2-3x a week junior year and would do 150s/300s once a week during outdoor. Other days were hurdle flexibility and block/technique work.
Right now, I’m lifting 3x a week. I just learned how to properly perform the clean from floor exercise. Slowly I’m adding weight but I am progressing well. I can squat 225 lbs as well for my max(done last spring, definitely can beat this though).
Also, I’m doing stadiums/hills once a week and 60m explosive starts once a week. For strength I run 400/600s at a moderate pace with decent rest too.
With all of this in mind, would it be possible for me to break 23 in the 200 this year? Should I change anything in my training? Thanks for any true advice.
