I don't know if weather has entered into the equation for Saratoga Springs this season, as it has for lots of teams. Maybe cancelled meets, or at least one weekend's invitational's cancellation, helps to explain SS laying low.
For example, two big traditional invitationals, Oatlands and then Octoberfest in Virginia, were cancelled because of waterlogged courses. I think the venues cancelled in order to protect their properties from hoards of runners, spectators, and of course cars in grass and maybe gravel parking areas.
This weekend's Great American in NC should be a good barometer for SS's health, as it will be for many other teams from the region whose racing has been curtailed by the effects of weather. The recent Hurricane Florence's impact on Cary, NC isn't a show-stopper, apparently.
